Scared about the dress decision!

I went looking for tulle tulle tulle! Sparkle! "Give me it all"! I chose a tulle and lace number after trying on about 10 dresses. I went looking for tulle tulle tulle! Sparkle! "Give me it all"! I chose a tulle and lace number after trying on about 10 dresses. Then a few months later (last month) I went to another shop where my friend got her dress (a Mori Lee), and the sales advisor asked if I would try on this.

I was like, sure, it's nothing I would ever pick. And I've changed my dress. (It's not yet ordered, but as yet, this is it).

Dress shopping for me hasn't been the joy I expected. Trying to get the right fit off my hips. Worrying that I wanted tulle and now it's satin and have I picked the right thing and what will everyone else think??! ....Sleepless nights worrying I picked the right one! I've decided not to show ANYONE (I know) my dress now, prior to our Christmas wedding this year. Would love everyone's opinions on classic satin!?

Oh then it sounds like your decision is clear! Satin dress it is! I don’t think you look “hippy” in it at all, but once it’s right size & tailored to your body, it will definitely look even more amazing that the sample dress! Satin dresses really are timeless & very elegant, so you can’t go wrong 🙂

Classic satin is perfect for a wedding dress. It looks so elegant and doesn’t need the glitter and glam to make a statement. We are almost dress twins. I’ll be wearing the necklace pictured, a few other jewelry peices and a sparkly headband in my hair with a cathedral veil.

This dress looks amazing on you! I absolutely love it. I was dead set on wanting lace and beading... that is all I would even try on! My mom finally convinced me to try on a satin mermaid dress and I was instantly in love. That ended up being the one! Go with how you feel! If you love it, it is the one. And it truly looks stunning on you!

I love the classic , simple look of the satin, and it is flattering on you. If you want to bling it up , I would say, do not add a belt. Instead, have a scattering of glass crystals, or of flat back rhinestones ( glass with mirrored back) sewn, not glued, to the satin across bodice, and midriff band. If you want to do an edge at inner V neckline, or a pattern, fine . But even a light scattering gives it that look of sunlight on snow, with a sparkle of lights where the sun catches individual crystals. But will not take away from the classic lines, or be too much. It will make your top look a little bigger in proportion to your hips, not a bad thing. . . . It is nice to try on a dress with a hoop, to see how it looks with the skirt spread. A lot of people find it really hard to walk with hoops, especially in heels. When the dress comes in, you may want to try a stiff net tiered crinoline. It spreads the skirt a little more flexibly, easier to sit and stand, and graceful go through a standard room doorway without brushing the sides and dirtying your skirt. Much easier in a car, too. Summertime, some people find the hooped petticoats cooler. But not your issue, rooms are rarely over 80° in Dec. . It is always good to try silhouettes and fabrics you never thought of. You made a great choice.

Gorgeous dress!!!!! The style is so flattering on you. Like others have said it really makes your tattoos pop with elegance. I, too, wanted something more of an A-line with tulle or lace and ended up trying on Stella York's 6447 (similar silhouette) and fell in love! My grandmother insisted I try it just to see and she nailed it. I feel like a queen in my dress. Congratulations and best wishes to you!

I am all for the simple dresses! Mine is very simple as well. Also NOTHING what I originally wanted which was a blush pink boho style bridesmaids dress which I did order but it came in 2 feet too long for my short self and was going to cost a small fortune to alter so I went to DB on a whim and walked out with my dress after trying on several others that I would have never chose myself. Those sales ladies know what they're doing lol. My jewelry and brooch bouquet will be my sparkle. I think your dress is perfect for a Christmas wedding and you are stunning in it.

That dress is stunning and looks amazing on you!! I love the simplicity - it highlights your shape and puts the focus on you! I've always said that you need to make sure that you wear the dress, and the dress doesn't wear you. Smiley shame

Don't stress out about the kind of dress you thought you wanted, so many of us end up in something we never would have guessed! It's all about the feeling you have when you're in the dress! Smiley heart

I'll tell ya what really doesn't help... the stock photos. I don't know if it's just me, but Stella York staged photos are terrible? They do the dresses no justice. They don't flow at all, the lighting isn't great.. "Real" Stella brides are pretty hard to find online too (at least they are in 6758)

Thanks for all the comments, really helped ease my mind!

This looks beautiful on you and makes your waist look tiny! A thick belt would look cute for some sparkle maybe.

I love this satin one on you and I think it would be so beautiful in the winter! I would say go with your gut, whatever it is and then don't look back! If you find a dress you love stop there and focus on that one! Personally, I think you should go with this one. The dress you end up picking is often the one you never expected to fall in love with. I went in wanting a sparkly, ballroom, princess gown with all the glam and thankfully told my consultant I was open to trying on anything and ended up with a lace dress with just about no sparkle!

You look absolutely beautiful in it! I wouldn't add a belt, but maybe a really dramatic veil and statement earrings? It's gorgeous!

So, this is actually my dress!!! I bought it during a preview trunk show so Stella York didn't even have actual pictures of it yet. I think you look fabulous in it! I thought it was really comfortable and flattering. I just ended up having decently blingy earrings & my veil had some bling, because I didn't want to take away from the simplicity of the dress. Here are some pictures of my dress!

It's funny how dress shopping works. A lot of time we're looking and getting these ideas in our heads. And then per our consultants (who actually know better than we do it is their job) we try on something else we didn't think we would like and fall in love. That's how you know it's the dress.
I absolutely love the simple satin on you, the one you have the picture of yourself in. It screams elegant bride, shows the cinch of your waist and shows the curve of your hip without drawing attention to it. I personally think you don't need to dress it up at all. Your awesome tattoos give all the detail you need.
Don't second guess just because it's not what you thought you'd love. It happens to a lot of us!

I think this dress looks amazing on you. It’s simple enough to let YOU shine through, but also the silhouette is amazing.
