Save the dates !?

Mercedes, on September 3, 2019 at 11:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 27
My wedding is in 340 days. I am sending out my Save the dates tomorrow, is it too early? Our guests are from out of town (over 2.5 or plus more hours away)

Save the dates typically go out 6-8 months before the wedding.

I sent mine at 10 months, mainly to avoid overwhelming people during the holiday season

I sent mine at about that time because half of my guest list is out of town, go for it!

I sent mine about 7 months out. I also have a lot of family from out of town 8+ hours away. But I waited bc I didn’t want people to forget about it if I sent it too early. But if that works best for you go for it Smiley smile you know your family best!

Every book, blog, and youtuber I've listened to said if its a long distance wedding to give around a years notice. Especially if they need to get a babysitter and a hotel room. 2 hrs isnt that bad. If it was me I'd send them about 6-7 months out.

Since that's almost a year out, I would say it's too early. Unless it's a destination wedding (across the country/out of the country), you probably don't want to send them until at least 8 months out. If you send them now, people will probably forget about it because they know it's almost a year away and don't have to make arrangements yet.

I sent mine a year out because we had a longer engagement and people kept asking. Also we have a lot of out of town guests. I know there’s a time period you’re supposed to do it but I say you do you.

I plan on sending mine out 10-12 months out since it will be a destination wedding! It’s courteous to all those out of towners

My wedding is in April and I don’t even have a finalized guest list. I wanted to get them out by Labor Day but my fiancé refuses to cut people on his side and it’s stressing me out majorly lol

Mine will go out this month. Our wedding is out of state for most everyone, upstate NY, and is September 19,2020.
That way people can make plane reservations and hotel reservations if they need them. And plan on childcare as it is a kid free wedding.

We send ours out 11 months early and I've never heard a complaint. Personally, people are busy and the more heads up you can give them the better. Plus it helps stop the "have you set a date yet?" questions from family and friends.

Side note, we just received a STD last month for an October 12th wedding. We were so confused on if it was just an announcement or what but we got an invite yesterday. Because we got the STD so late, I will be out of state on a girls trip that I could have easily missed had I known about it. ---Don't wait that long lol

I think that's too early. I'm getting married May 2020, and I still haven't sent mine out. They are ready to go, but I want it to be closer before they go out. My plan is to send them at the end of October--before the rush of holiday cards starts. That will be 7 months before the wedding, which I think is plenty early enough for a STD.
