    Local weddings - 4-6 months!

    Destination weddings - 8-12 months!

We sent ours out about 9-10 months before the wedding.

Ours is 5/28/23 and we have been sending ours between last month and now. We have a lot of out of town guests and we've been setting up the travel accommodations at the same time. since our wedding is at a hotel venue.

Great question. I am having a destination wedding in 2024. I already bought my save the dates. I was wondering the same thing.

We sent ours about 7-8 months ahead of the wedding. Highly recommend getting your website set up with travel info (hotel block, closest airport, etc.) so your guests can start looking into accommodations if they want to plan ahead.

Now for destination I know you have to give your guest a least a year notice, so they can plan accordingly.

Yes thanks girlie. I'm waiting to finish my website. Setting up accommodations. Then I'm sending them out. I wish I didn't have to wait till 2024 but I want to finish my masters degree 1st.

Don’t listen to the timetables that used to be “standard”. You know your guests best. I knew that if I didn’t tell my friends and family 12 months in advance to save the date, they would have vacations booked, work trips planned, etc. I sent my save the dates out 12 months in advance and my invitations out 3 months in advance. That’s what worked best for us.

Hey Wedding day twin!!! 90% of our guests are from out of state. I waited until I had my entire website totally up-to-date and all my hotel blocks (and additional hotels they could look in to on their own) all settled. I plan on mailing my Save the Date (magnets) out the middle of September. Hopefully by then we will have finalized the damn guest list. Certainly can't "cut" folks once those std's are sent. Smiley xd

Start calling potential guests at 6-12 months. Don’t do it later than 6 months.

We sent ours out last month, so ~10 months in advance of the day.

I’m getting married a week after you. Smiley smile I’m planning to send mine out at the end of sept/early October. That’s about 7 months out. It really depends on how many out of town guests you’ll be having. If it’s a lot, send them a little earlier so they can plan out travel. If most people are relatively close you can wait until 6-7 months out.

Due to our wedding being in Chicago and we live in California, we sent our “Save the Date” out this month; therefore allowing our California family and friends to have enough time to plan their trips comfortably.
