Save the Dates - Hotel Info?

Marianne, on September 20, 2011 at 12:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I have over 75 guests coming to my wedding from out of town - and I have several hotel rooms blocked off. Is it appropriate to send information about booking the hotel with the save the date, or should I wait and send it with the invitations?

I added our wedding website to our STDs and posted the info there.

We put a link to our wedding website on the STD and that had information about our hotel block on it

I agree with MekMek and Will be Mrs. B - we put the wedding website on our STD and on the website have all our hotel info. This allows people to plan accordingly without having to wait until the invitation comes - and possibly, decide to book rooms somewhere else that might be more expensive or a different distance from where your wedding will take place, because they didn't realize you had booked off rooms.

We also added a link to the website that has hotel and travel information. For people that I know do not have internet access (like my grandmother) I print something small to include in the Save the Date card but I don't think everyone needs to get a slip with the card.

I don't really have a wedding website and I'm not planning on doing one. So, I would take it then that it's ok to send the hotel information with the save the date. Kind of the same thing if you sent the link to your website ....

My dad insisted I put it on my STDs..I sent those around Feb I think..but i just sent postcards out, I felt like it was a little crowded to fit on there..I also put my website info..but some of my OOTs dont' use the internet that much..but I mean nobody has made reservations at the block yet..so it's really a crap shoot lol. But if you aren't making a website, I'd def put it on there considering you have 75 oots.

I would recommend including an accommodations card with your Save the Dates. I would NOT wait until you send out the invitations. Some guests may prefer to book early, and this can sometimes result in better room rates for everyone. I would be sure that the invitations also include a directions card/points of interest card at that point. The whole point of the Save the Date is to prepare those OOT guests for planning the trip. Here is an example of a Save the Date in which we included an Accommodations card: One card has 3 hotels (ranging in price) near the venue, and the second enclosure is directing guests to the wedding website. A set like this can be customized for as low as $1.50 - $2.00 per set, depending on your paper stock selections.

I plan on including an accommodation card with the invitation. But I'm also sending out a card at the 6 month mark (next week) that just has the hotel info on it for those who like me want to book their rooms early.

I'm headed to an OOT wedding in two weeks. I received a little note (3x3) with my STD and invitation telling me where rooms were blocked and directing me to their wedding website.

I'm not putting hotel info on my STD, but my wedding website is a list of accommodations.

I would recommend sending your hotel information with the Save the Dates especially if you have out of town guests and you have rooms blocked. STD's purpose is to allow your guests to make any arrangements necessary. Invitations should provide details regarding the ceremony, reception and any additional information about that special day.

Yes include it with the STD - that's really why you send them so people can start making travel arrangements. Waiting to send with the invites is way too late, many guests will probably make arrangements before then.
