Save the date/invite/rsvp timeline

Paige, on September 2, 2019 at 9:26 PM Posted in Planning 1 4
I know I’m way ahead of the game here - but I am trying to get a general timeline. August 29 2020 is our date. When should we send out save the dates? What about invitations? When should we request RSVP back by. The venue only needs 14 days before for the final count, but I don’t wanna wait that long. I want to be able to make the place cards and seating chart earlier than that. Thanks!

Save the dates: 6-8 months before the wedding
Invitations: 6-8 weeks before the wedding
RSVPs: 3 weeks before the wedding since your final headcount is due 2 weeks before, that gives you 1 week to follow up with stragglers

Here is what I did. I was a little ahead because everyone is traveling and a lot of people are buying plane tickets. Save the dates: 10 months out, invites 14 weeks out, rsvp due date 4 weeks out

    For us personally...

Save the Dates went out 10 months ahead

Invites went out 3 months ahead

RSVP date was 40 days out from our wedding (we needed it 30 days out for 2 vendors)

Hey Paige! Have you gotten the chance to browse around the WeddingWire site? The Ideas section is super helpful! I had a look in there for you and found these 2 articles that I think will be super helpful for you -

When to Send Save the Dates

    When to Send Wedding Invitations

    What is your venue like?
