Save the Date Postcards - Addressing

Jeannine, on December 11, 2014 at 10:04 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Hello All!!! I am new to this forum but had a question on addressing my Save The Dates. My Fiance and I just got our save the dates and we are debating about creating labels or handwriting the addresses. My FMIL has amazing handwriting so she would help us out there but with labels its so quick to print. The only other thing is labels are white where the postcard is like an off-white. TIA

I hand addressed my save the date post cards. It really didn't take me that long. If you go that route make sure the pen you use is waterproof. I tested the first pen in bought and it wasn't. The ink rubbed off when it got wet.

If you do labels I would suggest clear labels not white.

I think it's up to you. We had about 125 save the dates and 3 of us addressed them in under 30 minutes. They are informal enough that you could do label addresses, but like Natalie suggested I'd go with clear labels.

I think the white labels on an off-white wouldn't look so pretty. Can you get clear labels instead? Personally I prefer handwriting but I know it's not everyone's thing. My handwriting is pretty terrible so I took a lot of time to write out each address as neatly as I could.

Thank you so much for feedback...I would go with clear but there are lines on the postcard already. I may just have to hand-write them for that reason alone.

I handwrote mine, I had about 110. It really didn't take that long with me and MOH doing them.

    Handwrite them Smiley smile

Unless you are familiar with labels they can be a pain to print anyway. And with handwriting you can do a few at a time.

Wait... So I shouldn't use labels on my invitations? Well shoot. There goes that plan...

I used larger than normal clear labels, 2'x3" i believe. looked great and was legible for the post office even in a nice font

I've been wondering this too. I have such bad handwriting that I think it would take away from the personal touch it gives. Also, I kind of dropped the ball on save the dates. I wanted to send them out this month, but I'm still waiting on a proof so writing a few at a time isn't really an option.

So the census is clear labels are acceptable?

I'm using clear labes and will create a really cute return label. Something similar to the STD design; with the same font and colors. I'll be sending mine out next month.

I got clear labels at Staples and printed them off the computer. Just make sure you let them dry for a while. Otherwise they can smudge a little bit.
