So it is way to early to send out any wedding related stationary, but while lurking on other STD posts, I realized something. So it is way to early to send out any wedding related stationary, but while lurking on other STD posts, I realized something. My first thought for the STD would be "James & Ellie" since Ellie is my social calling name, a nickname my mom gave me before I was born. But I know on the invites and formal programs, and in the wedding, I will use my full name, Elizabeth. Has anyone used their more well known nickname for wedding related stuff if 90% of people never call you by your full name?

I used my nickname for my STDs and wedding invitations. I don't go by my given name at all. The only time it was used was in the ceremony and of course, the marriage license!

FH goes by his middle name. On both STD and invites we used his middle name. My family, except immediate, wouldn't know who the hell I was marrying if I put Stephen.

Thanks everybody! That's what I wanted to do but I wasn't sure if it would be weird to send out an invitation listing different names than on the STD!

Our names are Elizabeth and James, and there's a bunch of James and Elizabeths in our family so without including middle and last names, putting Ellie (of which I am the only one) might help lol

I feel there's only very few times to use your given name so I used my full name.

I used Katie (which is what I go by) on the STDs. However, I used Katherine for the more formal invitations.

I have a similar problem because I have a double barreled first name, but everyone just calls me Lyla other than for work/formal events. However, I decided to do my full name in our STDs. That's because I knew I would use my full name for our formal invitations and documents. I didn't want people to have to search under both my nickname and full name for our wedding website and registries. By keeping it consistent, I think it will be easier for his side. Maybe you could just be Ellie on the website, invites, and registry too?

I am in the middle of a legal name change and will be using a nickname everyone knows me by as a compromise and to not confuse my grandparents.
