save the date magnets?

jimmy, on February 26, 2010 at 6:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

I was wondering if anyone is sending off pre-invitations, or save the date cards. I see so many ads for magnets, I'm wondering if this is a good idea. This site is helpful: http://magnets-save-the-date.blogspot.com, but wondering what you think?!??

We are sending out Save the Date magnets. I think that Save the Dates are a great idea. It really does help your guests that don't know about the wedding, plenty of time to let them save up money, especially if there are people that are traveling from out of town.

The save the date magnets are a fun idea. I make custom ones and don't charge for the creation of them. I make many different ones for you to choose from and I am very reasonable because I own my own business. Let me know if you want to talk!

    Thanks Paula

I just got my Save the Date magnets from vistaprint.com....for free! Only complaint...the lettering looked a little bit small. However they are adorable! They've so far been met with a lot of positive responses.

I wanted to do this also, though I'm running out of time so may need to go simpler. You can do it cheaply by making business-card sized ones, design yourself with a business card template, and print on an inkjet printer, Staples and other office supply places sell the printable magnet sheets, I think they are even pre-cut into business card size. You attach the magnet to a larger card that you design yourself - then they can take the magnet off to put on the fridge so they won't lose it, which is the main reason I wanted to do this - I'm afraid our wedding website address will get lost otherwise - and they will need it to make their travel plans!

I ordered mine from vistaprint. They are small but I ordered little envelopes to make it look better. Everyone who got it loved them, however I got three back in the mail saying they were too small.

Here is mine, I used a business magnet template and made it my own:

They're about the size of a business card so make sure your font is big enough, if you go with something from Vistaprint. Or you can use the larger ones, maybe with a calendar and pic of you guys? This is one I made:

    Good luck!

Whoa, those are big. Sorry. The second one I put as a reminder in the invites but you could do something like that for the save the dates. Let me know if you need any help mixing and matching vistaprint's templates.

We sent out save the date magnets, and they were a hit! They are newer so alot of people thought they were a really good idea! We had our photographer do them, but I suggest searching online on ways to make them yourselves, you could save lots o money!

We did bookmarks (so pepople can "bookmark the date") instead of magnets - I've been told that a lot of people's fridges are not magnetic because they are build in.

Browse through our Save The Date magnets section where you can find several shapes and sizes of Save The Date refrigerator magnets available for customization or ready to buy as is. A couple of the popular sizes available are the 3 inch round magnet and the 2 inch square refrigerator magnet. There is no minimum order size and many magnet designs can be customized with your own designs, photos, and text.

Sorry, that wasn't the website i was thinking about, although they have cute crossword puzzles. This website has save the date magnets that you can make into jigsaw puzzles.

I agree with everyone! Magnets are a great idea! I made my own 5 x 7 design and then printed it on cardstock paper at Kinkos. I then went to Michaels and purchased magnets and stuck them on to the back of the cardstock. They turned out great and I really enjoyed making them myself! See mine here: https://static.weddingwire.com/static/wedding/565001_570000/566190/thumbnails/600x600_1267406750485-SaveTheDate.jpg Good luck! I am sure yours will turn out great! Smiley smile
