Private User, on August 8, 2016 at 7:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

Hello Everyone , what is the proper way to send a Save the Date Magnet ? Are you suppose to put something behind the magnet or can it just be sent the regular way ?

You can put the magnet in an envelope and send it the regular way.

You can send it the regular way. Just make sure the postage is right. You might want to weigh it at your post office.

Send it the normal way. There shouldn't be extra postage or anything.

I did STD magnets and chose to buy the backing for it, but you don't need to.

Also, please change your avatar to something other than the generic rings. They are associated with spam/trolls, so it will help you get more responses to your posts and it also distinguishes you from other generic avatar users, which makes it easier to read the threads. You don't have to make it a picture of your face if you are concerned about privacy, it can literally be a picture of anything. Here's how: On safari/internet explorer: Settings > Profile and Privacy Settings > Account Image > Change Image > Upload > Update Profile Settings

I sent mine the normal way, but just be aware that they can stick to the inside of mailboxes.

I just took most of mine to work since I know we have a mailman regularly pick mail up, to avoid the mailbox. I didn't have any get lost, but when I dropped one in the mailbox I heard it cling to the side. Luckily, they still go it, but a lazy mail person might not have noticed. Test it out on your fridge or something to see if the paper helps. Good luck!

I sent mine the usual way and no one seemed to have issues - at least none that we have heard about. The magnet STD was a HUGE hit, by the way! Every friend's home has it hanging up on their fridge and it's really cool Smiley smile

I mounted mine on card stock. They come pre made on magnetstreetweddings.

I ordered mines from David's bridal Pam. So what if I get card stock and put it on the back ?

I would watch the thickness of the magnet. Initially I had made magnets that were 1/4 inch thick. Then I took them to the post office, I was told that due to the thickness they were considered a "package" and tried to charge me about $2.80/each. I ended up just giving them to local family.

Do a search on here about this. I read about magnet save the dates getting stuck to the inside of the post office drop off box. Maybe you can just turn them in, in person.

We had a couple people not receive ours and we took them directly to the post office. They never got sent back to us though. One of those people was my brother haha! He told me he wasn't invited. I didn't know there was an option to purchase a backer or I would have.

If the STD is different postage, the site should tell you that.

Yes you can mount them in your own card stock. Just use an exacto knife and cut a diagonal slit to slide the magnet corners into.

Some if mine stuck to the side of the drop box. When I realized it, I took the rest inside the post office and gave it the mail person by hand. Some of the ones we put in the dropbox never made it to their destination.
