Save the Date but no invite!

The daughter of an old friend of mine is getting married next month. I received a STD but no invite to the wedding. Which is no big deal at all since I have no contact with them besides FB. Last physically spent time with them 6+ years ago(they live next state over) Would you send a gift or anything...

    If I didn’t get an invite, I wouldn’t send a gift

I received a save the date once and then wasn't invited to the actual wedding it was very strange and I didn't send a gift because I wasn't actually invited to the wedding and it was someone I actually did talk to still at the time. It was weird.

TBH that is really weird. I know it sounds weird and I am just throwing this out there but do you think maybe it got lost? Or I do know some people don't send out invites and other there wedding website you are supposed to rsvp. I would maybe say something, again may be weird and I am not sure, but I would say something like hey I got your save the date just want to make sure I didn't miss the invitation, no biggy if not.
