Sand Ceremony using Hourglass

Bugcatcher, on September 16, 2016 at 12:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Has anyone used an hourglass for the sand ceremony?? I really like the idea but I

wondering about the mixing of the sand colors. Anyone have any ideas? Our birthday

colors and wedding colors are much the same: purple & yellow.

Thank you and I really enjoy these forums.

Hi @Pamala! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters.

Lots of people have used an hourglass for their sand ceremony! They just do it in turns so the sand colors layer. What are your concerns?

We are using an hourglass for our sand ceremony. Make sure you the one you purchase is made for sand ceremonies - I've read where many people get cheap ones and the sand comes out when you flip it.

Is there some way to NOT have the 'change your avatar' message posted on every single new person's post? Could it maybe be sent to the actual person?

As for the sand. If you want to do it, spend the money. If you don't want the colors to mix, don't flip it, but I tell my couples to give it a little shake every year, just to mix up the pattern as their relationship evolves.

@Fall Bride - they have a select few items at Hobby Lobby. They have their "Mr. and Mrs." product line half off every once in a while.

FallBride, you can use any 3 containers (the largest should have some way of sealing it -- lid, cork, etc.). Two champagne flutes or bud vases for the 2 colors for example.

I provide the containers for my couples -- unless they want something like an hourglass or frame.
