Mrs. DooPwee, on March 21, 2013 at 12:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

What did you play? Did you play anything? Is there supposed to be talking? I'll google while I wait for answers and suggestions Smiley smile

Thanks!

For our unity ceremony, we are playing a saxophone instrumental version of Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

We're playing "Miracle" by Foo Fighters. I'm hoping the officiant will say something before and after pouring the sand like this page describes.

Here is what ours will say:

"In addition to the vows you have agreed to, and these rings and promises you have exchanged from your hearts, you have also chosen to utilize the unity sand ceremony to commemorate your wedding. The unity sand ceremony is another simple outward symbol of your two hearts and two lives joined in one amazing love forever. It is a reminder of the scriptural description of marriage, they two, husband and wife, shall be one... one in body and soul and spirit. We begin by pouring a layer of white sand as the base, white symbolizing the foundation of your marriage, the purity and strength of your love for one another, and God's love." "We continue by having the groom pour a layer of his sand color into the container, a reminder of who you are, your family and heritage, and the life events which have shaped who you are.

And by having the bride pour a layer of her sand color into the container, a reminder of who you are, your family and heritage, and the life events which have shaped who you are. Now just as there shall be countless opportunities for you to work together to create and keep this marriage and your love vibrant and alive, both work together to pour your containers into the common vase creating a picture of unity and two becoming one. We finish the ceremony by pouring a layer of white sand onto the top of the container to seal the unity with the promise of your everlasting love. This work of art shall be a reminder of this day and your lives joined as one. The white base and top also help to create a picture of God's loving hands securely holding your marriage and lives to overflowing). This work of art shall be a reminder of this day and your lives joined as one. The white base and top also help to create a picture of God's loving hands securely holding your marriage and lives together.

And just as it would be impossible to separate these two sands again into individual sands, so shall your lives and your love be, together as one forever."

This ceremony is what sealed the deal with fh to use this officiant.

My Grandpa has a song he wrote for us that he will be singing. I am so honored that he is doing this for us.

I don't think you need music actually. The officiant talks, you pour, then it's onto the next.

Oh boy Aimme! That's very nice Smiley smile Very descriptive. I'll show that to FH Smiley smile

@Jessi F. when will he sing? During, before or after the sand ceremony?

@Celia Milton, yeah I kind of figured it would be just a couple minutes, with more talking than anything. Unless we poured the sand super slow or something... Smiley smile

Have another question. The vase we are using for the sand ceremony has a votive holder that drops into it. I was thinking of incorporating the candle ceremony into it as well. Like just having the moms light it as a symbol of something super matronly and family oriented.

Does anyone have suggestions or words that can be said for this?

Thanks for any advice Smiley smile

There is a song written especially for that moment - "Yours Mine & Ours" which you can hear a sample of and see the lyric at www.weddingmusiccentral.com. It comes as a duet or solo version which you can download at itunes or Google play.
