Same dress for Civil Ceremony and Delayed Reception?

I agree with the other ladies here, Wear it to both. Might as well get the most out of it. But if ur really looking for that first look, i think it will 100% depend on ur plan for ur small ceremony vs big wedding next yr. Are you planning to get ur hair and makeup fully done for this one too? Will u be doing anything more than a quick 10 min civil ceremony + dinner, are you planning to have the photo/video ppl there while u get ready this yr and then at ur dinner with fam. Etc. Also where will the civil ceremony be, just at the court or just getting an officiant and going somewhere nice?

I think the video will be dependent on how formal u r doing ur small wedding (vs ur big one next year). If u r paying extra for them to come this yr and next year, It would seem much to me to have it just for the sake of a 1st look. And if its super important to you to have that first look with video maybe then save the dress til next yr Or have a family member just video it.
Personally id wear my dress and do just photo for ceremony only and a few personal shots only to commemorate the moment, unless the video ppl offer. if u really want it videoed have a family member do it. Its really just dependent on how formal u want this intimate ceremony to be. Remember u plan to have the big one next year still and you dont necessarily want to take away from that.
Im doing the same thing, small ceremony now with just our immediate families. Only difference im doing is im gonna wear a flower crown now and then next year, gonna do my hair according to plan with veil. That way it adds some difference so next yr he can still be like 😗. Im wearing my dress for both. My fh really wanted our first look down the aisle so this actually makes it easier for me to wear my dress now so next yr we can do our pics before ceremony. We are only having photo not video to the small ceremony.

Great idea! I did get a jeweled belt and a cathedral veil that I could save for the big wedding so it has more pizazz! We are probably going to be having the small ceremony at a hotel so that it's nicer to look at than the courthouse

What are you planning to do with your dress between the two days? I'm stuck between wanting it cleaned and preserved for the second wearing and not wanting to pay to have it cleaned and preserved twice if I do end up wearing mine again.
