salon or in home

Caitlin, on August 11, 2011 at 3:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

I am trying to figer out my hire and make-up. I have 4-5 people getting ready with me in the moreining and we all need hair and makeup done. At first i was thinking to have the makeup and hair people come to the house but i dont think we have time for it (i have to leave for my ceramony at 10:30)

I just started looking in to going to a salon so we can have more people working on us at one time.

What did/are you doing for your hair and make up? is some one coming to your house or hotle room or are yougoing to a salon?

how long did it take/ how long are you plaining on it taking?

Im going to a salon that is literally two miles from my venue, with all my bridesmaids and we are getting our hair and makeup done there, the stylist said it will probably take an hour or so to get my hair done...the ceremony doesnt start until 630pm, so im getting my hair done at 1pm, so that I can get pictures taken with my mother and bridesmaids. The less pictures to take after the ceremony the better because we will be fighting daylight!

I'm going to the salon (3 minutes from my parents' house where I'm staying the night before), but I know a lot of brides prefer to have a hair stylist come to their home just because it's more convenient. If you can get multiple stylists to come to your home, that may be an option. (I understand needing to save time though 'cause my wedding starts at 9:45! I plan to leave for it at 9:30 'cause that still gives me enough time to walk if the limo doesn't show, and a few minutes to take pics and relax beforehand at the church if the limo is there. Smiley smile) (Hey, maybe if it's a nice day, not too windy and stuff, I might want to walk a little... get some natural color and get any anxiousness out of the way. Smiley smile)

I'm going to the salon because it is much faster and i found that the more people they bring to your house the more money it cost and the more chaotic i feel it would be. I have 3 bridesmaid and both my mom and fmil are getting their hair and make up done too.

It's funny, I was wondering what I would do as well. Right now (it's so early though!) I think we decided to do hair at the house, as I only have 4 BM's but 1 has locs, so her hair is always "done" lol. But the dressing and make up will be done at the Venue. My cousin in law is a professional MAC artist who does great work, but I'm interested in seeing how it turns out because I've never worn make up before lol

But I would say just try to plan as efficiently as you can! Don't want to be late on your big day Smiley smile

My MUA and my HS are both coming to my house...but I have more time than you clearly do to get ready. If you can find a salon that can get all 5-6 of you finished in one place, I would recommend going there instead.

Our venue has a unique room called the Bridal Room, that is available to me and everyone getting ready with me at 10 am, so i think we're going to have the Stylist come there to get everyone ready

Me and my BMs all went to the salon together and had a blast... and it did go much faster since they could do 2-3 of us at a time. We had a lot of fun Smiley smile

From the start I've always wanted to go to a salon with everyone. So that is what we are doing. This way there is no rush for the stylist, or us.

I'm staying in the hotel that is our reception venue the night before the wedding and they have an inhouse spa that has a celebrity makeup artist and a high class hair stylist - so i'm using them!! it is actually working out as the same price to use the spa as it would cost to get someone else to travel to the hotel and do it there for me! i'm very pleased with the convenience of it all! - thats a thought - i should probably actually book it rather than just talk about it!!

We'll be getting ready at the hotel, and we'll be starting early. I have no idea of the time, I don't know if she'll have someone to help her or not. But we'll be primping all day!

I am a make-up artist that works at a fantastic day spa. If you have time go to the spa and relax.

We serve lunch, give mani, pedis and massage. Then you can shower and have your haiir and make-up done there, same for your maids. Check out my profile and give me a call.

My MUA/stylist will be on site, with his emergency kit for any touch-ups that may be needed. This will be especially helpful when its time to take pictures, since I'm pretty sure I will be all teary-eyed from the ceremony and will need some adjustments made lol.
