SALMON OR TILAPIA?!

Samantha, on January 29, 2014 at 4:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 41

We chose fillet mignon, chicken kiev and are a little stuck between serving tilapia or salmon as the fish. Both tasted delicious but I think more guests would prefer salmon but could be wrong? Any suggestions or experiences with these fish and what people like better?!

I love both, but I find salmon to be heavier than tilapia. I think I'd need that if I'm drinking. Also tilapia is thinner than salmon so it could dry out faster in the cooking process. Not Good Eats.

I like me some tilapia personally... I make it like every week.

I think salmon would be preferred more though. We are offering salmon if it helps.

Where I'm from, tilapia is what lives in the sewers so I could NEVER serve it even though I know it's different elsewhere. Salmon would be fine by me Smiley smile

I plan to stick with Tilapia. While a lot of people enjoy salmon, I believe a white flakey option is better. The tilapia I want is topped with crab meat and lobster butter.

Apparently there's a shortage of salmon because of this crazy winter (Canada and UK) and labor strikes in China. I would think that would be resolved by your wedding date, but who knows if there will be any lasting ramifications.

Tilapia is less fishy IMO, but I know a lot of people like salmon.

I think tilapia is more neutral.... But salmon is sooooo delicious! If you have more options than just fish, I say go salmon

I would go with Tilapia. It has a more mild seafood flavor and might appeal to more people but more often than not you do see Salmon offered as the fish choice. Maybe something different like Tilapia might not be a bad idea .

GameCox - well when you served it to me that way, I'll take the tilapia!

Tilapia is less "fishy" but the people that choose to eat fish, probably like the taste of it! From my experience, most fish eaters like salmon. That would be my choice.

Salmon...tilapia is a cheaper fish to me, and I have views of it like Mrs.King.
