Hi Brides! My wedding day is slowly approaching and I'm finalizing some last minute details for our major vendors. So far our menu includes cocktail hour; mini chicken and waffles and warm crab dip w/ tortilla chips. Dinner includes choice of salmon croquette or southern fried chicken (boneless) with garlic parm mashed potatoes, three cheese mac and cheese, asparagus, and dinner rolls. My question is ALL this food and plus the bar, do we really need a salad? I've been to weddings where if a salad was offered people only picked over it and some didn't even touch it. Are salads really necessary?

So, I love salad, so I would eat every last bite. However, the last wedding I attending, no one at the salad.

I think it’s a know you’re crowd situation. Our family isn’t big salad eaters and like you, the cost seemed pretty high. We redirected the salad cost towards the dessert, which more people will eat anyway

I feel like there may be people who look forward to a salad as it is usually a safe food... I know I can be a picky eater and if I don't like what is being served, having a salad is comforting.

I consider salad dressing death on fine fabrics. On the center front of dresses and blouses especially. I don't eat greasy drippy things at public functions in formal clothes. Hence, no salad. Your menu could really use some fruit. Pineapple chunks? Cantaloupe?

When did macaroni and cheese become a vegetable?
Last I knew, cheese came from cows, goats or sheep, and wheat pasta is a grain?

Thanks Suzie! I like the idea of having one big salad at each table versus presetting salad at each seat for everyone.

Thanks Denise! I think I'm leaning towards putting the salad on the actual buffet line.

Thanks Brittany! That's exactly what I'm thinking. Presetting the salad could lead to people not even eating them to save room for everything on the buffet line. I'm thinking about putting the salad on the actual buffet line with the rest of the food to let guests decide on if they want a salad or not.

Yes, my menu was southern comfort food inspired so it is pretty heavy. I'm thinking of putting the salad on the buffet line to let guests decide if they want it or not.

Yes, I agree! We're thinking about putting the salad on the actual buffet line to let guests decide if they want salad or not versus presetting them.

Thanks Kaylan! With all the other food, I don't think guests will even realize a salad wasn't provided.

Lol, I'm the complete opposite. I LOVE salad and I ALWAYS pick over it, lol. I'm scared that this will happen to me and no one will even pay attention to the salad and it ends up being a complete waste.

Thanks Judith. We may do a fruit station to add some color.
