Sailor Moon wedding - what to do with bm colors?

Chelsea, on March 29, 2020 at 8:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi all. So before this Covid-19 panic started I was planning on having my Sailor Moon-themed evening wedding in April or May of 2021. My venue search has been put on hold for obvious reasons, so there's no exact date yet, and it cpuld get pushed to later.

I have 3 BMs and an MOH, perfectly lining up with the personalities of the inner scouts. My problem is that I have no clue what I want to do for dress colors. My decor theme is midnight blue, silver, cool lavender, and blush/chiffon. I'd like my bridesmaids in deep evening gown colors corresponding to their scout, but then I'd have sapphire, gold topaz, deep emerald, and rose red (jewel tones), which isn't to theme and is for Fall or Winter than Spring.
I've thought of putting everyone in the lavender or silver but my BMs have widely differing complexions (there's a superfair mousy blonde, a dark haired/fair skinned Latina, an East Asian with a perpetual tan, and my biracial sister with darker hair and skin). It's almost like if one color works for most, it doesn't work for the rest.

So please help... Do I put them in different colors to make them look lovely? Is there some way to make a color work for all of my BMs? I'm stumped.Sailor Moon wedding - what to do with bm colors? 1

You can have them all in one color (hint of another color in the flowers) and the groomsmen in another color // for Ex : BMs in lavender, bouquets have the blush color, GM have blue tux w gray accents under

Okay I love this theme! But I would definitely have the bridesmaids wear light pinkish color and maybe in the bouquets they use you could add hint of color for the sailor scout they represent. Your bouquet should be all red roses like tuxedo mask! And the grooms men should wear navy, or black. Oh this is hard... there’s so many good ideas & options...

I would definitely have them wear one color. Too many different colors would be very distracting to me as a guest and would draw my attention away from the bride and groom. I think all of these colors are very pretty. My suggestion would be to have the girls try on dresses in these different colors and see what you like best. I am a very visual person so it is hard for me to imagine what something might look like without seeing it beforehand.

Groomsmen will def wear navy, since black is a bit too intense for the groom's coloring. I'm handmaking GM boutonniers with a crescent moon--they make necklace medallions I could repurpose into a pin and put flowers with it.

I like your idea with the blush and bouquets with scout colors. Perhaps tied with ribbon in that color? I bought little planet sign earrings and tiara rings from Hot Topic for their day-of gifts that they could also wear for a subtle touch of scout power!
My original idea for my bouquet was a delicate cascade bouquet with white roses, jasmine and ivy, but the red roses would work really well and be much much cheaper, which is definitely a plus.

Unfortunately two BMs live in a different state so I can't go shopping with them. But I could have them try on different colored dresses at their local shop and take pics. Would that be too much trouble to ask them?

Tied with the ribbon color would be beautiful! And the crescent moons are great idea. But I feel like the blush color looks good on everyone!

I would think that would be fine. I would just say something like hey I'm not sure what color I am leaning towards and was hoping you could try on some dresses in these colors. The hard part would be that they wouldn't be able to purchase the dress when they go to the store because you would have to decide on a color beforehand.

Thanks folks! I think I'll mail color swatches with my BM proposals and have them send me a pic with each next to their face and take their opinions to keep it convenient for them. I'll add their scout colors in their accents and bouquets. All of your suggestions were super helpful!
