Hey guys! I am getting married next year and I have acne I've tried everything! It's mostly on my chin. I want to clear it up by the wedding because it looks like I can't afford a make up professional. Any tips? Or home remedies? Anything? TIA!!!

If you can afford it look into Rodan and Fields. I have a few friends that had bad acne and their products cleared it up and helped diminish the scars (I do not sell this or am associated in any way- just trying to provide info)

Apple cider vinegar. Make sure it is organic and unfiltered. I use Braggs. Retin A also works very well. I just use Dove soap but Cetaphil is great too.

I second Norwex washcloths! So amazing and all I've used for over a year. No big breakouts anymore, just one pimple might come up when I have my period and goes away very quickly. Good luck!

I work in dermatology, acne on the chin is usually hormonal. You will need to see a dermatologist for a topical retinoid and medication.

My derm prescribed clindamycin in the morning and tretinoin before bed (Both are topical), as well as Panoxyl face wash which you can buy at any drugstore, no Rx needed. I have also tried Renu28 redox gel, that works great as well, especially on scars or single zits.

My face is super clear & soft now (started breaking out really bad couple years ago & left me with scarring)

Have you ever tried lush products? Using their face washes has saved my skin. I use Angels on Bare Skin and it's so gentle and exfoliating. It has ground almonds that help soak up oils but also herbs to help tone redness. I've also used Herbalism which I liked too but it was a little too harsh for me.

Every face wash I've ever tried has made my skin worse. I do use a CeraVe moisturizer that I like.

If it's hormonal, you will have to see a specialist.

Otherwise for me since I have super oily skin: diet, water, wash with gentle face wash once a daily, moisturize right after, never touch my face, exfoliate once a week and mask once a week.

Seemed to work wonders for me.

All basic skin care routines start with a daily cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. The cleanser shouldn't strip your skin and dry you out (like proactive and neutrogena daily acne wash can). Cetaphil is the best inexpensive cleanser I'd suggest and that'll get rid of dirt, oils etc. Then you need a toner to close up your pores so debris won't get back in. I use Belif from Sephora. Sephora actually has a lot of skin care options so don't be afraid to talk to the people there (for any of these products not just the toner). For the moisturizer, get something with SPF. I use Neutrogena daily defense with SPF 50. Do these 3 steps at least once, if not twice, a day and make sure you completely remove any and all makeup you wear every day. Exfoliating or using a mask 1-2/week would also not be amiss.

If you notice you're touching your face a lot: stop. By touching your face you're transferring dirt and oils from your hands to your face which is going to make your acne worse. Stay hydrated and wash your pillowcases/sheets regularly.

If you can't afford/get a referral for a dermatologist (who obviously can make more appropriate and personalized recommendations than us), go get a facial (I did it on a groupon to save money!). A proper aestheticism can recommend specific products to address your specific concerns. Develop an awesome skincare routine now and by your wedding you should have control over your concerns and it'll last you well beyond Smiley smile

I started getting facials regularly. I started a few months ago and my skin has improved GREATLY. I had mild acne, acne scars, large pores, etc and it has all cleared up or improved so much I can barely tell.

I started with getting a facial once a month about 4 months before the wedding. Now I'm doing a series of 4 heavy exfoliating facials every Friday up until the wedding week before the wedding to finish it off.

It's a big investment to go this route but it truely works for me.

If it is cystic you may want to hit up the dermatologist for some quick fix injections. I was a proactiv kid and transitioned to Rodan and Fields (same company) and that keeps we in check but at this point you it stat. A great MUA will know now to hide cystic acne and with photoshopping and other editing your photos/video will look flawless.

A dermatologist can absolutely help, but be careful! They gave me a few things with salicylic acid and more, and it completely dried out my skin. I was peeeelingggg completely, and that happened the DAY I GOT ENGAGED!!! So embarrassing but thankfully did not show up in the pictures. Just make sure the doctors have good ratings and really understand your skin type. I have used Murad, Proactive, Kate Sommerville, and more that can be purchased at Sephora. I actually find that CVS and drugstore face washes work better. I use Cetaphil, and only sometimes wash (only at night) with a clarasonic face brush. They have different brush types and I use the Clarasonic Acne Brush. I still have a bit of acne and it usually pops up more before my cycle. No need to spend a great amount of money on face washes!

I am also about to get a facial in an hour (hahaha). I'll let you know if they recommend anything for acne!

Have you tried the whole30 "diet"? You get rid of a lot of provoking foods from your diet then slowly add them back in after 30 days. After adding them back in you can see what affects you. They have a book on it, you can buy it at pretty much any book store! I've seen it work really really well for people. I personally use witch hazel as a cleanser before anything else, wash with activated charcoal face bar, then lotion with CeraVe. It has no smell and it's the only lotion I can use with my oily face. Doing all this has really cleared my face up! I get them on my chin mostly too, so I feel your pain! I've pretty much cut dairy out of my diet also. So that may have an effect also.

You have a year to get your skin in tip-top wedding shape... it's better to spend money on treating the skin rather than paying a MUA to cover it up. Do you have insurance? If so then get thee to a dermatologist ASAP instead of spending another dime on anything friends might be selling on Facebook or the acne aisle of a drugstore. Chin acne usually = hormonal acne. A dermatologist can set you up with an oral antibiotic to treat bacteria on skin and in pores now, as well as recommend a topical treatment specifically for your skin. There's some decent suggestions on here, but honestly, working with a professional will truly pay off.

I can't tell you how much money and time I wasted at Sephora and the drugstore buying stuff that seemed to work for everyone but me. It wasn't until I started seeing a derm. that literally changed my skin completely. Retin-A seriously is a game changer. Wishing you lots of luck!
