Just Said Yes August 2019

rsvps

Sarah, on July 17, 2019 at 11:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 27

I asked for RSVPs to be in by August 1st. Does anyone reach out to guests before the RSVPs are due to see if they are still coming or when the deadline comes do you reach out to guests? What are the best ways to reach out to guests?

I wouldn't reach out before the deadline. If you wanted to know earlier you should have set an earlier RSVP date.
As far as best way I'd say it depends on the person and you know your guests. I know with some on my list a text would be best but for others a phone call is better

Personally, I would wait until after. My RSVP date is Aug 12, then ill be harassing people lol. And I would just let them know you need a final count so you need to know if they will be attending or not.

Most people will tell you to wait until after the deadline, but I've heard of people sending out reminders before the deadline. With my deadline passed and only 40/107 responding; I would actually say to send a text/email reminder before the deadline and start calling people who didn't respond afterwards. I think some people forgot, some people never actually received the invitation, and some people just don't care.

Mines the same RSVP. I only received probably 20 back and sent out around 100. 200 invited. Getting super disappointed..wish people would understand what runs through our minds when we don't get them!

I had the same problem. I'm kinda disappointed because we have to have at least 150 people.

Wait until the deadline to reach out to people. If you requested RSVPs back by mail, then I'd wait a few days after your deadline to contact anyone. If your RSVPs are just electronic, then you can reach out the day after. I think you can call, text, or Facebook message everyone who hasn't RSVPed - whatever way you think the person is most likely to respond to.

We are in the exact same place! 200 invited, 100 invitations and only 20 RSVPs so far. We sent them out on Monday and I was hoping for a better response. When did you send yours? When’s your deadline?

Wait a day or 2 after the deadline to make up for last minute mailers. Many guests may drop their RSVP’s in the mail ON your RSVP date. By August 3rd or 4th, I would start texting or calling people, depending on who they are.

Mine are due on the same day! I did ask a few people, as it came up in conversation or we knew it was going to be a big question, but for the most part, I'm trying to hold off on asking till the date has passed. What's your wedding date? Mine's Sept. 8.

I sent my invites out mid June and I’ll need to get final numbers mid August.

FH has been reaching out to his family, partly because we might have to plan some timeline stuff around them, and also because we had problems with the STDs getting to people at all.

I've spoken with some of my family, but that was because of family drama.

...Absolutely none of these people have actually responded, so it might just be a waste of time.

That said, I'm frustrated, because, particularly with family, there are other things we need to plan around, and it'd be helpful to know.

Usually I believe you wait for 1 week after the deadline so the mail can reach you and then you start contacting guests Smiley smile

Our RSVP deadline is also August 1st. I will start reaching out a few days after the deadline. I will reach out via Facebook messenger so that I can see if they read the messages. I will also include that if we get no response back, we will be marking them as a no and hope that we can celebrate with them at a later time.

You got time girl don't stress! Smiley laugh

I sent mine out super early because its a DW (at like the 110 day mark) and I have only heard from maybe 15 or 16 people. Mine is all online RSVPs too so its not like a delay in shipping. We will probably hear a lot more next month and closer to deadline! Smiley smile

I’m sure you’ll get people to rsvp when you reach out after the deadline. Fingers crossed for you - although I’m sure you’ll have a great turnout 💕

I waited until the day after my RSVP date (March 1st)...only 3 empty chairs at my reception. As soon as someone stated they were not coming I immediately called someone who was 'waiting' for a seat....so I never had an empty chair until the day of the wedding (April 14th). So I planned for 80 guests, it went up to 88 (paid for) and final was 85 including bride and groom. My MIL was helpful in reporting the no shows from her side of the family.
