Rsvps sent back but never received.

Nicole, on June 5, 2019 at 7:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
What do we do? Have come to find at least 10 people sent back their rsvps andnwe never got them back in the mail. My gear is that the mail carrier put them in the next door mailbox from time to time mixed up the addresses. We have a VERY bad relationship with our psycho neighbor and the only sense in can make out of it is that she's getting them and throwing them away. I made address labels for all the cards and its just select ones that haven't come back. Do I report this to the mail carrier? Will they investigate this? Possible that the mail carrier remembers delivering those cards to her and we can finally bust her on sabatoging us?

I just asked the guest if they were coming or not if I did not have their RSVP. It probably got lost in the mail.. but it's up to you on how far you want to get into it..

Just follow up with the guests you have not heard from once your rsvp due date passes. In your case, I’d acknowledge that you’re having some mail issues — “hey we just wanted to follow up to see if you’d be able to come to our wedding? We haven’t received an rsvp from you but we have been experiencing some issues with our mail delivery so know you may have answered and we just didn’t get it! So we’re following up— will you be joining us for the celebrations?” But, wait til the rsvp date passes so that you don’t have to reach out to each and every guest!

You can reach out to the post office and/or mention to your mail carrier that you’ve had a lot of sent mail not arrive to you (could even show the carrier one of the envelopes so it’s really on their radar — I know carriers don’t sort they simply deliver , but if they have the image in their head, if there’s one on top of a pile they’re about to put in someone’s box they might have a lightbulb moment). But, tread lightly. Your neighbor has nothing to do with this. Don’t be accusatory; be understanding. A mail carrier will never say “oh yes I think I did give that to your neighbor!” so I wouldn’t even ask. I’d simply put the envelopes on their radar. No blame, only statements that you haven’t received some mail you know what sent to you. I know it is frustrating , but this is one of those “kill them with kindness” situations. No one can say for sure how or where they’ve gotten lost. So , stick to facts (that they ARE lost), direct and simple, when dealing with the post office. Who knows, they might just turn up!

    Hi Nicole!

Oh, this is a headache, I'm sorry this has happened to you!

At least there is a workaround as the PPs mentioned. Once your RSVP date has passed, I would suggest you actively reach out to people you did not get an RSVP from, explain there have been some issues with the mail carrier and if they are coming or not.

If this is an ongoing issue with your mail carrier mixing up your addresses, it may be worth reaching out to get the issues resolved. I wouldn't advise you speak with the neighbor encase they actually did nothing wrong. Better to fix the root of the issue and hopefully stop it occurring Smiley smile

    When is your RSVP deadline?

Oh, I have no intentions on speaking with her. I find her threatening and not in her right mind. If she did take my mail and throw it out than thats more bad karma that can be added to her, already miserable life. We are moving to a new apartment (and complex) because of how insanely psychotic she is. Ive heard a toilet seat slam 10 times a day for 2 years. Im done. I will however, notify the mail carrier of this issue. Thanks though! We have been calling everyone to confirm and we have explained the situation.

Another way to keep an eye on your mail is by signing up for USPS Informed Delivery. Basically they send you an email every day with pictures of what is coming in the mail that day. They can't always include a picture if it's not processed on the right equipment but it's definitely better than nothing! Our mail can be spotty so I've used this to make sure what I see in the email matches up with what we get.
