RSVP why do people wait till the last minute

Nicole, on March 23, 2010 at 1:45 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 25

I find it funny when I get an invitation I throw my RSVP right into the mailbox at least by the end of the week. Our RSVP deadline is April 1st . If people don't send it by then they can't come anymore lol. Anyone else have this issue? I only got back like 6 and invited 115.

Oh and this girl spelled my name wrong on her invite and didn't address it to both my fiance and I. Just his name was on the front and then mine in the inside spelled all wrong. She isn't coming to ours b/c its a destination wedding. we are going to hers, so on the RSVP I wrote the correct spelling of my name hahaha.

My RSVP date is April 10th and I have gotten back about a 1/4 of the invites. Some people I have talked to have said "Oh yeah I do need to send that back but I am coming." I guess my wedding really isn't on the forefront of everyone's mind like it is mine.

Lol Jamie. My wedding date and RSVP date is the same as yours. We haven't even received back 1/4. So I am getting really nervous.

Curious Jamie since our wedding dates are the same, how much more stuff do you need to do?

We have gotten about 1/4 and our deadline is 5/5. We sent out invites about 2-3 weeks ago so I think that is pretty good. However, I feel like if you're going to do it at all, you're going to do it right away. So I don't expect to receive many more at this point. There are exceptions for people who have to get time off work or make travel arrangements who might be waiting to send it until all that is panned out, but for the majority I think, what are you waiting for...you're either coming or you're not!

I think alot of people think, I will send it out later. And then they realize they are after the deadline date.

If you don't receive them by your deadline - are you making phone calls?

Mrs. Hubby - I just have the final details to finish up like the seating chart, wrapping the wedding party gifts, choosing the rehearsal dinner menu, my final dress fitting stuff like that. Do you have everything done?

I went to dinner with FIL's last night and my FMIL said "how is the family doing with RSVP's? Do I need to help?" and I just looked at her funny and she realized she hasn't RSVP'd either! It's not that I need to know that they're coming, they have a food choice and I swear if i don't get their card back soon I'm feeding them all the kids chicken fingers!!!

We're having a DW on May 21st, and asked people to RSVP via email by March 31st--it's a little early, but I wanted to set it early because I feel like people waffle a lot on a DW, and I only want them to take the trouble to attend if they REALLY want to be there. (And travel arrangements get much more expensive closer to the date, anyway.) Anyway, we only have 20 people out of an invite list of 70 who haven't yet replied; I plan to call them the weekend of April 3rd if we still haven't heart.

It seemed to me that those coming just assumed I knew and those that were not were afraid to tell me. We ended up reminding a bunch before hand and calling the rest on the cut off date.

Holly cow. No, need to meet with dj and discuss songs, have to talk with hall decorator on what she will be doing, my MOH's dress won't even be in until 4/21, go for my first fitting today, need to make up the favors, get the wedding party gifts, meet with photographer. And afraid to look at the list to see what else. We just started planning this wedding less then two weeks ago, so I guess I should not expect a miracle.

I am like you...I always send them back right away. Its annoying that people "just assume" you know that they are coming. We had to contact at least 25 couples to remind them to return their RSVP card (out of the 55 invites, 103 people total) we mailed out. Its also irrating that people think that if they aren't coming they don't have to RSVP either. Like just send the stupid thing in--its pre-addressed and pre-stamped!!!

We sent out invites for 160 guests back in February. We have a RSVP deadline of of April 1st. So far we have 117 that have responded to reserve. As well as those who have declined to attend. So we are actually doing pretty good. In the beginning we had a few RSVPs that trickled in and then nothing. So I was getting a little worried. Then I started getting nervous about if we set our RSVP date to far in advance because some weddings I've went to had RSVP dates set for 2 weeks before the date. But I really was set on a 1 month before RSVP date so that I can have that extra time to work on any additions or changes to the list at the last minute before the count would be due. Then all of sudden we started receiving responses back almost everyday to every other day. Hopefully, the remaining non-responders will send their response cards in by the deadline. I think you probably get a rush of response cards back especially right at the deadline date.

I guess people have allot of other things to do also. I need to just relax I am turning into a bridezilla lol. I have to give final count on April 1st that's why but they won't be mad if I need to add some so I shouldn't worry. Good point they probably will come closer to deadline. see you ladies know how to relax me.

Since you haven't heard from people set up a time to call those who have not RSVP if that does not work do e-mail and if they still don't respond then they aren't coming. don't worry yourself about them after you have tired everything to get a hold of them

I don't blame you for wanting the invites back a full month before your wedding. We'll be doing the same. For us, it will make a difference in what we serve at the reception. We're paying for this ourselves, and have pretty much decided how much we want to spend for our "food budget". As of right now are planning on having heavy hors d'oeuvres because that's what we can afford if everyone shows up. We know that this isn't likely to happen, but if it turns out that we have a much smaller crowd come from what we're expecting, we might change that to a buffet table instead. I would rather serve some real food instead of snacks, but as others have said... they're not paying for it.

I have the same wedding date and RSVP date as Jamie and Mrs. Hubby. So far I have gotten back 6 or 60 RSVP cards.

My deadline is April 3 cause we have a floor anyway, and the ceiling is over our invited number. Also we're doing buffet, so no need to have food choices. Our final count's due the week before, so we'll start calling April 3, LOL. It's been family that has been the worst. I only have about 26% in, but none one in the wedding party has bothered to RSVP, so that would up the percentages to about 37%, LOL.

My deadline is April 2 and more than half of the people have yet to send their RSVPs back....really frustrating! And its funny you say that they spelled your name wrong because I got a wedding invitation addressed to my fiance and "guest"...seriously! We've been engaged for almost 9 months and we've sent them about a dozen things with our names on it, am I the only one who goes out of their way to make sure spellings and spouses are included and correct!? lol
