rsvp responses

Danielle K, on May 15, 2019 at 10:35 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 26

What have been the best responses you have gotten?

Funniest = mother's friend said she didn't send in her RSVP because she wanted me to save my expensive stamp... The RSVPs came with a pre-stamped envelope and the option to RSVP online... lol

Sweetest= A sticky note attached to a ladies RSVP card that said it was the prettiest invitation she has ever received Smiley heartSmiley heartSmiley heart ( side note this lady shouldn't have been invited because she is actually super hated by my whole family for some horrible things she did but I didn't know and of course no one told me till after she RSVPed yes so now I guess I am just going to set her with FH's family and let my DOC know to watch out for drama lol)

Angriest = My grandfather RSVPing no because it is Massey Ferguson Day so he has a tractor show to go to! Yeah my family is chalk full of rednecks lol P.S. this is the grandfather who helped me get addresses 2 years ago so it isn't like he didn't know what day it was on. (oh and also he is the one who gave me the address for the family enemy mentioned earlier lol)

We had someone Facebook message us saying he "didn't feel like sending the RSVP back" (it was pre-stamped and pre-addressed, he just had to drop it in the mailbox) and that he "wants steak, and wants to bring a date" (he did not get a plus one as he is in the midst of a divorce and FIL's are friends with him and his soon-to-be ex wife. he also isn't even dating anyone)

Funniest- We received an RSVP without a name on it and only a check mark that they were coming. We had used black light numbers on the cards so I knew it was my uncle. I texted him that he forgot to write his name on the card but thanked him for sending it back and he responded "What? You sent it to ME so you should know it was mine!"......thankfully we did the black light numbers otherwise we would have had no clue but he assumed he didn't need to write his name since we sent it to him! lol!

Angriest- A friend of my husbands family wasn't supposed to be invited, but after getting a ton of grief from my MIL to invite her, I caved and added her to the list with a plus one. When we got her RSVP back, she has crossed out the "2" we put under number of seats, wrote "6" and wrote in all 4 of her GRANDKIDS names....needless to say it was MIL's job to call her and tell her she could only bring herself and 1 other person...not 5.

Sweetest- A few friends had written on their RSVP cards cute notes like "Can't wait!". I loved getting those back!

Funniest- FH husband replied yes and "can I be a bridesmaid" "can't wait to see your mother get wrecked at the wedding" - my mom is 49 going on 21 lol
Sweetest- lots of"i can't wait to celebrate" etc.
No angry rsvps. Just two old people saying they don't have computers.

How rude!! We had tons of people not put their names so thankfully we put stickers on the RSVP envelopes with their return addresses but what is frustrating is when a family of 4 says three will be attending???? lol who is not?

I meant FH friend said "can I be a bridesmaid"

But yeah she likes to have a good time. She had lots of trouble narrowing down her friends and she invited 14!

    Love this!

FH is a big Notre Dame fan and a few of his friends are Michigan fans. One such friend wrote "Go Michigan. Notre Dame sucks"

Another sent back "Joe Smith and guest" literally. We had to call and ask his guests name "Mary Beth" does Mary Beth have a last name? A few days later "Jones". Make a placecard for Mary Beth Jones only to find out her name is Joe Ann Jones.

My favorite was the note from out of state Aunt and Uncle "we'll let you know a week before the wedding if we can make it or not. Daughter (also out of state) is due with second baby week before, if she has the baby we'll come, if not, we won't. They make extra food so just say we aren't coming and we'll eat the extra food and then you don't have to pay for us!" If only it worked that way!

Oh we did! We got married March 23 and figured out it was wrong when she introduced herself to us. Whoops! I'm sure they had a nice discussion about that. Smiley xd

We’re a year out so no invitations sent out yet, but we did send out STDs (a LOT of OOT guests). We also have our wedding website up and running which includes the RSVP section.

Funny/ angry: FH’s one uncle ALREADY RSVPd yes for him, his son, and son’s s.o, which we thought was insane/ funny. Then he came over and yelled at us for not sending his son and his gf a STD..... they all live in the same house?

Lmao that is amazing! I keep telling my boss who insists on having a date (literally the only one who gets an open +1) that if he doesn't give me a name soon enough then I am making her escort card say "Roger's Side Chick" lmao

Okay so although I feel if someone is an adult they should get their own invitation even if they live at home, I agree STDs are different and absolutely no excuse for him to yell at you!

    What is worse?

one tiny debatable etiquette slip or yelling at an adult whom you have 0 authority over??? Heck if my BOSS "yelled" at me I would walk out and I love my job!

Right!! Last year my uncles step son was married and although he was older when his mom married my uncle so he isn't involved much with the family, he is still family but my grandpa, my dad, my aunt and my cousin all missed his wedding because of a tractor pull. I wasn't actually told about it until the day before (they sent an invite to my mom and dad + family but of course I never heard about it) so I felt horrible that I wasn't able to attend either. When I brought that up with my dad because I was upset with my grandpa, he responded with "well how many 4th of July parties have you missed" OMG my family is absolutely ridiculous! but it is really just funny at this point because I can't stand my grandpa or especially not his new wife so I will just have a great time with the family I like!

Cousin had her baby two weekends before, so Aunt came, but Uncle didn't. I was surprised by it!
