rsvp, no shows, how to handle?

Angela, on May 24, 2019 at 3:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

RSVP, I have been reading about people who RSVP and didn't show and those who didn't and showed.

What is the best way to handle the ones that didn't and respond to those who did but didn't show?

Not sure what you mean. Are you thinking of contacting guests afterward who didn’t show up to your wedding???

I think those that do show up that didn't RSVP, welcome them with open arms and tell them you're so glad that ended up being able to make it as you didn't think they would. As for those that RSVP and don't come, you might reach out to them just to ensure all is well in their life. You never know what all is happening and they might need that.

    Hi there Angela!

Unfortunately, it can happen at a wedding that some folks turn up without RSVPing and others don't shower after RSVPing.

I find these tips from the WeddingWire ideas section work really well in both cases. Of course, some of them don't make sense for guests who turn up without RSVPing, however, the appointment of an "emergency contact" would help alleviate any issues which arise here also.

How to Deal with Wedding No-Shows

With the no-shows, it would be ok to reach out to them to check in and make sure everything is ok after the wedding (the article explains the best approach on how to do this). You never know what happened, and if it was something terrible such as a bereavement, I personally would like to know and offer any support I can.

Is this something you're afraid is going to happen at your wedding?

I am just more worried that I am either going to pay for food that isn't needed or not have enough food. The ones that don't show that have RSVPed Hmmm, I can understand if something has happened but I cant see 25 people all having something happen. My fiance has said he will have a big issue with those that dont show after RSVping. Which is why I decided to ask about it.

It would be a frustrating situation for sure. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen on you and your FS's wedding day Smiley smile
