rsvp Info on Wedding Invitation

georgiabride2018, on January 17, 2018 at 5:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

Hi Everyone,

My fiance and I want to cut down on the amount of inbound mail we'll receive from RSVP cards to our wedding so we want to include the RSVP information on our wedding invitation like:

"Please RSVP by April 5, 2018 on ourwebsite.com"

Have you all done this before?

Again, we do not intent to purchase RSVP cards but we want to let our guests know they should RSVP online.

1) Etiquette-wise, Is this okay to do?

2) Have you done it before and can you share screen shots and examples?

3) If you haven't done it before, but you've seen it done, can you share screen shots and examples?

Thanks everyone!!

I do not have screenshots, but my roommate did this. I think she used the knot for hers. I think it worked out pretty well from what I heard. She had it on the bottom of her invite "Please RSVP at 'web address' by 'date'"

To my knowledge, it is perfectly acceptable etiquette-wise.

I havent seen it on the invite itself, but i have seen it on a separate card inside the envelope with the invitation.

a friend of mine did this and they put their wedding registry, hotel block accommodations, and the RSVP site on a small card so it didnt clutter her invites, but it was still information given. she bought white cardstock and printed them herself so they didnt cost much.

i dont know why you couldnt though, if your invite has the room for it.

I've never seen this done before but that doesn't mean it's not OK. I would worry some of your guests would find online RSVP a problem, though. I know some of my fiance's family would not do this. We made sure to send them RSVP cards and stamped envelopes.

I’m not sure what you need a screenshot of. What you have is fine. Just substitute “on” with “at.” I would include an email address or phone number in case people have questions. They shouldn’t but you never know. Just be sure you are accommodating guests who may not have access to a computer, if any.

Anyone who is under 65 y/o and can use the internet is RSVPing online.

I've seen wedding invitation where the only RSVP option was to RSVP online, and that is fine. However, every time I've seen requests for online RSVPs, the instructions to RSVP were put on a separate card that accompanied the invitation. Instead of having a card that had blanks to fill out and a small pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelope, the card just said to please RSVP online by [date] at [website].

I’m pretty sure this is acceptable, but it’s commonly on a separate insert. You may need to make follow up calls to those who may not be computer savvy.

You could also use “Please visit (website here) to RSVP by (date). And be prepared to call people after your RSVP by date. My brother did this for his wedding and he ended up calling about 1/3 of the invite list (mostly older folks) who hadn’t gone online. All of those people were also invited to my wedding. We did RSVP cards and I’ve received all of them from that group. But I definitely wouldn’t think twice about what you’re doing about it being rude or not okay. It’s perfecrly acceptable and a much greener option.

I just put my rsvp at the bottom of my invitation with my wedding website. We didn't put an rsvp by date because it wouldn't fit. We also had to pay $20 on the knot to customize our wedding website URL because the one we got for free was really long.

We have got a lot of comments from our guest that they like how we did our rsvp because it brought them to our website and they got to see our engagement photos and more details about the wedding that would normally not be on a invitations. About 70% of our guest have rsvp and we still have 3 months to go and no problems yet.

I've never seen RSVP info on the actual invitation. I've seen it on a separate paper.

I'm doing it. I have the invitation on one side and the RSVP information on the other side of the card. It let's them know that they should RSVP online or call me if they aren't computer savvy (older relatives). They are being made now. I'll post a pic once I get them. I should be getting them soon. My wedding is in April so I'll be mailing them out in February.

I see no problem with having the RSVP on the invitation.

    Congratulations!

This is what we're planning to do for our reception (destination ceremony in August, reception back home in October). I'll set up RSVP on our wedding website and include my phone number too for grandparents and others who may have a harder time with the online RSVP.

I set up our wedding website through WW and so did my cousin.

at the bottom of the invitation, her's read : Please RSVP at ww.com/herweddingwebsite

the wording on mine was: For event/RSVP details please visit: ww.com/myweddingwebsite

I removed any unnecessary wording that most digital invitation templates had and really customized mine.

This is exactly what I am doing for my wedding. My Save The Dates said "For wedding information please visit blahblah.com" and then my formal invites say "Please RSVP at blahblah.com/rsvp by April 30, 2018". It's very common these days. I haven't even sent out my formal invites yet and I've already had people start RSVPing based off the Save The Date.

It may be an issue for the elderly who may not be computer or tech savvy. I think you should include rsvp cards for anyone who may not be comfortable doing online.

I was thinking of also including a phone number for the non-tech savvy people. How did you word it on invitation that they could also call? Thanks!
