RSVP in time?

Brittney, on August 16, 2017 at 3:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

I told everyone to RSVP by Sept 1st on my invite but I've only gotten like half of them back. Is this normal? Anyone else running into this or worried about people not responding in time? For those of you who are closer to your wedding/ already married, did you have to reach out to a lot of your guests to see if they were coming? Or do you just assume they are not if they don't respond?

I definitely would not/am not assuming just because they didn't rsvp that they aren't coming. Today is my deadline and we have about 25 households to reach out to. I think it's normal that people forget to RSVP, didn't get the invite, etc. definitely reach out!

It's nowhere near September 1st. People still have weeks to respond.

You absolutely have to follow up after the 1st with people who didn't RSVP. When are your final numbers due?

I hear it's normal from basically EVERYONE (in real life and in the forums here) that people are generally very bad at RSVPing on time. I plan to follow up with everyone that has not RSVP'd to be sure.

Yes, yes, it's very normal and there's an RSVP post about 3x a week. Fortunately, we had 30-plus responses each week, and I only had to follow-up with 10 people (about 5 couples). But it's very normal.

Most of our RSVPs came around the final RSVP date (or a couple days after). It's totally normal.

Our RSVP date is 9/2 and ours are slowly crawling in. I am afraid that we will have to contact many after the date. Please do not assume they are not coming just because they didn't RSVP. Make sure to reach out to the ones you haven't heard from a few days after the deadline.

Don't bother anyone until after the RSVP date. They have two weeks still!

I was missing a good 20% of RSVPs by the time the date rolled around. It was frustrating especially considering the return envelope was stamped, addressed, and ready to go.

Definitely never assume! I never received my friend's invitation and I never would have known unless she contacted me! Thankfully she had an early RSVP deadline and I was able to attend still (I had to travel).

I keep reminding myself that they still have a few weeks and to not freak out. But I still do! Smiley smile

Yeah I'm definitely in that mode of, "Why aren't they sending it back? Why didn't they just do the smart thing and fill it out the second they got it instead of letting it sit around their house for ages?" But my RSVP by date is 9/1 so I just have to keep reminding myself that they have time. Also I'm being a total hypocrite because although I am usually good about sending RSVPs back before they're due I'm definitely not the person who replies weeks in advance.

9/1 is our RSVP date and I haven't gotten a single RSVP back. Like, not one. I will definitely start texting/calling everyone the following week.

Out of 185 people only 59 have rsvp'd... I put our due date as 8/23. I definitely plan on contacting people.. Just stressing a little bit :/

You will still have to make phone calls after the deadline. People just don't pay much attention to this stuff anymore. Just plan on reaching out to everyone on your list you haven't heard from by the deadline.

People are horrible with rsvping. I asked for them by August 30, and have gotten less then half. I understand the frustration but they do still have time. Sadly just have to contact them if they never send you the rsvp.

My RSVP date is 8/25. I'm still waiting on 14 cards back. I expect to get several back next week, and just after. I'll start calling on Sept 1. Venue needs numbers by Sept 8.
