My wedding is May 11th, 2019. If I sent out invitations March 16th, that is 8 weeks out, but my final flower changes (aka how many centerpieces do I need) is due April 3rd!!! 5 1/2 weeks before the wedding...I feel like making the RSVP date 6 weeks prior to the wedding is too far out but I don’t...

Help!

At any rate, I’d suggest sorting this with your florist will be headache than early invites and RSVPs. The majority of rsvp complaints I see on these forums come from people who requested RSVPs extremely early and aren’t getting responses. Not everyone who RSVPs late is procrastinating, many people just can’t provide an answer that far in advance , be it time off, travel, or childcare. I’ve declined a wedding I would have otherwise gone too because they asked for RSVPs way sooner than I could give a definitive answer. I erred on the side of “I can’t say yes yet and I’d rather not late cancel or no show, so I’ll just skip” but plenty of people don’t think that way and say yes before figuring out that they can’t get childcare for a month and a half from now, and they end up bailing last minute.
(haha so short answer, I agree with PP who suggested pushing back with the florist)

Unless you have enough verbal confirmations/knowledge to have a pretty good idea of who is or isn't likely to come to your wedding you should probably set your RSVP date to be a week or 2 before any final counts are due. The last thing you need is to suddenly not have enough centerpieces.

I booked my florist when they were having a deal of 50% off DIY flowers (we go in the Thursday before wedding and put together everything with the help of their florists) Part of this 50% off deal is that I had to pay in full up front for my order. What I paid cannot be refunded or credited but I can still add to the order and get the 50% off. So I put 6 centerpieces on my order and left the other 6 off until I know my RSVP's but they are still wanting my final order by April 3rd.
