RSVP DATE TOO SOON?

K, on December 1, 2017 at 1:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

Hi WW!

Our wedding is on March 17th 2018. I was wondering if an RSVP date of February 16th was too early? I need to have them back by March 1st because my caterer needs a final head count by then.

EDIT: I'll be putting them in the mail January 4th or 5th. If that helps any.

ETA: I figured it might be helpful if I gave you my other dates

-Invites will go out no later than Dec. 18th

    -RSVP date is February 5th

-Final head count is due Feb. 17th

    -Wedding is March 3rd

No, that's not too early - you're going to have people you have to chase down and that gives you some time before your numbers are due to the caterer.

I don't think it's too early, because it gives you enough time to follow up with anyone who hasn't responded. My wedding was April 28th and my RSVP date was April 4th, numbers were due to the caterer by the 17th.

No I don't think that's too early. My wedding is April 27th but our final numbers are due two weeks before that. So our RSVP deadline is March 30th, that gives us two weeks to contact people who didn't RSVP.

I don't think its too early. We haven't figured this our for us yet, but I had to RSVP to an October wedding in August this past year.

You're doing exactly what we did. We put November 16th for our December 16th wedding and we need to give final numbers today, December 1st. We didn't put them in the mail until around October 16th though so we gave people a bit less time but it was still fine. We did have to track a few people down but nothing too bad.

AL you think a month before is too close??

OP it's not too early and it's not too close. My wedding is 2/17 and my RSVP is 1/17. Some people have told me it's too much time. My venue needs 2 weeks prior to the wedding and I want to start seating ASAP and also I want to cushion myself for any last minute RSVPs and/or changes.

I think it's good timing. Our wedding is 5/19. Venue requires headcount & final payment 21 days in advance (seems crazy but whatever), which is 4/28. So I'm putting RSVP by 4/21 so we have a week to harass people if need be. Invites will go out by 3/17 which will give them a month to figure out their plans.

My rsvp timeline is just like yours. My final catering numbers are due two weeks before the wedding so I set the RSVP date for about one month before, giving myself 2 weeks to track down any stragglers.

My rsvp was a month before as well. And I def had to chase people down. So I think you are good. And it also helps with the people who may have never received their invitation. 10 people never received my invitation even though I mailed them altogether. So it gave them enough time still to work out their work schedule.

Nope. We are getting married May 26 and my due date is April 30. I just know for a fact I'll have to track down a good amount of people *eyeroll*

I don't think that is too early. Fact is you need the head count when you need it! That is the important factor.

Lol I think you're good OP. Mine is even earlier, it's tentatively set for March 1st for my April 14th wedding (not that the invites have gone out yet mind you). I needed a little more time since my name cards vendor needs the guest info at least 3 weeks out. I gave myself some time to track people down in case I need to.

My venue says I need the final head count 30 days out, so they can order everything in time, so that seems very reasonable.

I had mine RSVP 5 weeks before the wedding date. It gave us plenty of time to figure out who was coming. I think your date is perfect!
