RSVP date how far in advance from wedding date?

I googled and found a bunch of mixed responses. I want at least a month and a half, my MOH thinks about a month is more appropriate. What is everyone else doing? ETA; Final numbers have to be to the venue and bakery two weeks before the wedding date.

Ours was 3 1/2 weeks, because our venue needed a headcount 2 weeks prior. That gave us a little over a week to hunt down missing RSVPs. I wouldn't do anything farther out than a month, because some people really don't know until about a month before the wedding if vacation time has been approved, solidifying the travel plans, etc.
