RSVP Critique/Registry Advice

TravelWife, on April 14, 2016 at 9:59 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

Okay two things: 1) What do you think of the wording of this RSPV? Should the title even say RSVP if I'm adding registry and accommodation info to it? 2) FH and I aren't registered anywhere yet. We have conflicting ideas about the where to register, and what to register for. I like the layout of the current registry wording, but is there a better way to say "More registry information is available at our website"? Should we just register somewhere first, and then order the invitations? I was trying to take advantage of online sales while I could, but maybe I should wait.

I'm probably going with a completely different background all together, so please ignore that piece. I'm only wanting 2 pieces of paper in the formal invitation envelope, and I'm trying to see the best option to consolidate. Thoughts?

You should NEVER put registry information on your wedding invitations. EVER. Take it off. Do not include.

If you want to include accommodation information, you can put that on a separate card or your website as well. Seeing as you are doing electronic RSVP though, I can't see anything wrong with having it on there. I would just do it separately, though.

No registry info on your invitations. Ever.Ever.Ever.

You don’t need the word Please since svp stands for if you please

Add a line for their name(s) and if they are accepting or declining.

Registry information should not be included in the invitation.

I think the accomodation info could go on the rsvp card in this instance since it's not getting returned to you anyway.

No registry info. Just direct them to your website and they will find it.

^what Aurelia said exactly. No registry info on your rsvp. I would just include your "For more information, please visit www.yourweddingwebsite.com" on your card. I would think the accommodations could also be found on your website too.

Just want to chime in with another "no registry info on your invitations" so you get a sense for how much of a no-no it is.

To be clear, this is NOT an invitation. That will be a separate card. All the invitation suites I'm seeing online have the formal invite, an RSVP card, a details card, etc. Should I still remove this?

The only time registry info is appropriate is on a SHOWER invitation, which is not ever thrown by you.

Remove still. it doesn't matter if it's an RSVP, Invitation, or separate insert.

To be clear, this is part of your invitation. So yes, still remove. And don't forget the names line, that is very important Smiley smile

ETA: Never mind. I just noticed this is an online RSVP.

But like others have said, the registry shouldn't be mentioned anywhere in the invitation package.

If the rsvp card is getting mailed in the envelope with your invitation, then it goes under the umbrella of no registry info on the invitation. Not on, in, near, with, under, over, or behind the invitation.

Thanks for all the advice! I'm thinking I'll just leave off the registry information entirely and guests will figure it out when they go online. I'm having online RSVPs, so no mailing back will be required.

Take the registry info off. You are having them RSVP online so if they want to know where you registered, the info should be on your website! Problem solved! Smiley smile

Yay! I'm glad you took everyone's awesome advice.

What I did was include a small business card (from vistaprint) that said, "for more wedding info and to RSVP online please visit our website at: www.blah.com"

Besides the fact that you shouldn't put registry information on your invites, there is too much info on there. The RSVP card should only have the RSVP info on it. It should have the RSVP return date (remember to give yourself time to track down those who haven't responded before you have to give the final count to your caterer), it should have the name(s) of the people attending and the meal choice (if you're doing a plated meal).

I did a separate insert for the accommodations info and also included my website on there where my registry info and a few others things are noted.

Can you print some of the details on the back of your invitation? We are also against including lots of extra cards with the invitation, so we have reception details on the back of the invitation and a note to visit our website. I also included a note on the front of the invitation to see back for details, because I've learned from WW and personal experience that not everyone thinks to turn over a flat card and read the back.

Agree with Richard. Clean it up and nice and clear. More info at the website. People are used to this now and will figure it out to go there for directions, registry etc.

No registry info and make sure to add your wedding website and password if required. I would cut the accommodation section off the RSVP card. You could put something like for more information including accomodations, directions, and other details please visit our wedding website: www.yourweddingwebsite.com.
