rsvp cards??

Cristina, on May 26, 2020 at 5:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 31

Hello all! I am in the process of ordering my invitations and I don't know if I should spend the extra money on RSVP cards. Do you think it's worth it? I'm just wondering if people will actually send them back or if I'd be wasting money getting them. I thought about having guests just email us to RSVP but I wasn't sure what would be easiest. What did or what are you guys doing for RSVPs ?

We are having our guests rsvp on our wedding website. I didn’t see the point in spending extra on cards and postage that would then require me to do extra work. This way the data is already compiled and I can quickly contact the people who didn’t rsvp.

They should be included in the invitation set automatically without extra cost. Never heard of them being sold separate. Yes you need to have them so your venue and caterer (and baker) have an accurate headcount. Otherwise you may end up with either not enough food or space or extra food that goes to waste.

Some people don't return them for personal reasons (they're lazy, think you're a mindreader, etc) but the majority do. You have to get in touch with them and get an accurate headcount anyway. Email and other online services might be modern but many people see them as lazy and rude where a fancy event is concerned, especially older guests who will only reply with a physical card.

That was my thought but I wasn't sure. I am ordering from Vistaprint and they are not included an are an additional $38 for 50 of them. I even looked through Shutterfly and they also charge separately. Do you know where I can purchase from where they would be included?

You can do online RSVPs through your wedding website, but I would definitely not recommend email RSVPs. That’s a lot to keep track of and some people may find it uncomfortable to reach out to the bride directly to tell her they’re not coming.

    Try Etsy:

Also any company that specializes in wedding invitations will include them. Even someplace like Costco.

We're doing online RSVP on our website, but will probably put reply cards in the invitations telling them to RSVP on the website. Then we save on postage but still have the formality of the reply card.

Ann's Bridal Bargain is another option. They include RSVP postcards (cheaper postage) and some also include a details card. They are 99 cents per invite, and they often have sales.

We did online RSVPs thru our wedding website. RSVP cards were definitely not included in our invitation price so it was a way to save an extra few hundred bucks.

You could have guests email your rsvp but then it would make me think why have an invite of paper at all. so i think for older guests it's better to allow them a paper RSVP. for me, i mostly did paper invites for older folk and then everyone else that was young or tech savvy i did email invites and online rsvp

Really up to you! Either way is just fine. People will use them if you send them, but if you provide a web address for rsvps, they'll use that, too. I like the feel of paper and plan to use the rsvps in a craft project later 😉 it's definitely more expensive, though. Not only do you pay for the paper, but you have to address the return envelopes and provide postage.

Why do you have to provide postage? Is that good etiquette?

Yes, if you expect them to send it, you are supposed to make it as easy as possible for them to comply, or so I've been lectured by my FMiL and my step mom Smiley xd

RSVP cards came with our invited but am using them to direct people to our wedding website so they can RSVP there. That way if they need to change their RSVP, they can. And it tracks them much better than I would be able to!

I have RSVP post cards. It’s in my opinion better to have them as cards yes it’s extra money. It’s better then thinking people will go on a website to say yes they are going. You need a head count and you don’t want to be incorrect with head counts.

Now the postponement cards because of this virus I think is a waste of money. Told my guests to send me their cards back if it going to be moved they can go on my website.

I think I'll end up just getting the RSVP cards because we don't have a wedding site so it might be easiest this way. Thank you!
