RSVP cards: what do I fill in?

Caris, on March 29, 2013 at 9:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I'm going to write in the total # of invited guests (ex: "___ of _5_ guests will be in attendance"). Am I also supposed to write in the guests' names on the top line, like how I have addressed the invitation? Or do the guests fill in everything else?

BTW I did my invites and RSVP cards on Zazzle and they came out nice, yay!

    I love the design on that RSVP card. I left the name part blank and just filled in the "5" part but it's honestly up to you, just a little extra work but if your anything like me, I don't mind.

    I only filled in the number. I left the name part blank in case one person couldn't come, but another could. I needed to know who for the escort cards. I did number my RSVP's in case someone forgot to fill in their name/return address!

    @Joleigh I don't mind :-) I'd like to get them done today after work and mail them out tomorrow morning.

    I would put "Mr & Mrs John Doe & Family" I am assuming it would be a family in the same household with 5 people on one invite. Then if some one out of the group can not join you how will you know who is not coming...thinking seating chart problem here.

    @Samantha numbering the RSVP's is a GENIUS idea! Definitely taking the time to do that, might do it instead of filling out the name, since I don't think I'm doing seating arrangements.

    @Angela I'm thinking more people will actually do the online RSVP, where I do have everyone's name listed and they can check off who is/isn't coming. The most important thing for me is for the guests who are family to fill out the #children sections, for food pricing purposes.

    But... thinking about it again I think I will fill in the names, just so they know exactly who was invited and people don't start replacing invited guests with guests of their own! ;-)

    @Samantha & @Joleigh sharing is caring! :-)

    Luckily I have a "numbered" guest list already (thanks to Microsoft Excel lol) so adding it on the cards won't be too much of a hassle.
