I think it would be nice to keep the RSVP cards as a souvenir, and an easier headcount but I'm all about trying to cut little costs because its all adding up so quick!

I opted to do the RSVP by website on our invitations. It's been over two weeks since people have received their invitations, and only 2 people have RSVP'ed. I'm wondering if anyone else had problems getting people to actually respond or even check out the website, and what did you do?

We are doing RSVP cards! (I thought it would be fun to make a little wedding planning scrapbook at the end!) We also have a space for people to request songs on ours, so in 20 years it could be fun to go back and look at what people wanted to hear Smiley smile

We did our RSVPs on our website, as well. Not only did it save money, but it is organizing everything for me including the count for each of the 4 meal options.

I'm curious what will you do if they show up? I assume you need to give your caterer, baker, etc. an accurate head count for food and they won't be included.

I'd also be worried that they never received the invitation in the mail. It would be sad if someone you really wanted there (and who wanted to come) couldn't because of a simple postal error. My parents never received an invite to my brother's wedding because it got lost in the mail.

I chose to do RSVP cards because I'm excited to get them in the mail and I think cards will be easier for me to organize everything.

I sent RSVP response cards with stamps and interestingly enough, 2 people RSVPed on our website and then sent the card back to us!

I put my wedding website on a separate card. People use online wedding websites now a days. You don't need an RSVP card.

I was going to go with the just email thing but decided against it because my grandparents are not good with computers.. I ended Up finding a invitation that had an rsvp card with it on minted.com
it was all in one so all they had to do was take the bottom piece off and send it back super easy!

I did RSVP cards only. I included a self addressed stamped envelope. Not only am I excited about checking the mail everyday now (like other posters I maybe check once a week if on my own, my fiancé normally gets the mail now since we live together), but I’ve noticed my friends seem really into it too. I’m 32 but I went to college later in life and have a ton of friends in their twenties. For many this is their first grown up wedding (as in not a family event where they go with their mom and dad). Also they grew up with tech being even more pervasive in their lives but this seems like a fun exception for them! Everyone was messaging me really excitedly about getting the invite in the mail, mailing it back, etc.

plus, in general my fiancé and I have had a rule about wedding events. Tradition gets a vote, he gets a vote, and I get a vote. So if both of us want to break from tradition on something, we do. If one wants to do something, the other doesn’t, and it’s a tradition, then we do it. But in this case it was a unanimous vote for RSVP cards to return in the mail.

Another option would be your wedding website (if you have one). We have one and the RSVP is on the website. So the invite just says "please RSVP on our wedding website by XXXX". We saved a ton of money that way.

If they just show up they're welcome to be there, but not welcome to eat. There is a reason for the RSVP. I did give the caterer, etc... a number 10 more than the rsvp's we received.

Happy Hedgie, I did have to give the caterer, baker, etc an accurate head count. I gave 10 more than I received in RSVP's. If people show up that didn't rsvp they may stay, but they may not eat. I hate to say it, but it was all family that did not rsvp and they received the invitations. I know this because they told me they got them. I refuse to be an afterthought and if it was important to them to be there to celebrate with us then they would have taken the time to rsvp.
