rsvp cards or a simple email on the invite

kelsey , on April 29, 2018 at 9:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 33

Currently I'm waiting to order my invitations but keep debating on getting RSVP cards or if i should save the money and just add a line at the bottom of the invitations that says "PLEASE RSVP BY MAY 31ST at ************@*****.***"

I think it would be nice to keep the RSVP cards as a souvenir, and an easier headcount but I'm all about trying to cut little costs because its all adding up so quick!

IMO you should always have the RSVP card. It's just more formal and appropriate for a wedding.

A lot of websites, including WW, will let you do an online RSVP.

It still doesn't let you have an card as a souvenir, but its easier to track then just an email. I kind of feel like I'll have plenty of souvenirs after the wedding, including my wife!

I didn't do RSVP cards. I just put our website on the invitation for RSVPs.

Saved over $180 by not doing them.

I’m having guests rsvp on our website. That way only the people’s names on the invite can rsvp and they can make their meal selection.

I prefer the Rsvp cards! We started getting ours back and I have been excited to go to the mailbox and check for them everyday!! Its fun. Its rare anymore that I get something fun in the mail.

I agree. I’m notorious for normally checking the mail only twice a week, but with our response cards coming in I check it everyday! It’s exciting!

I’m notorious for not going to the mailbox EVER. why would I. When I don’t go it just appears on the countertop a couple times a week (FH gets it) haha.

We did not send RSVP cards to be mailed back. I felt it was a waste of money (stamps, etc...) as a good chunk of people never send them back. We did a Reply card that said how many seats we had reserved and to reply either at WW or to call or text us. Of all 376 invited, we didn't hear from 20 or so. I didn't chase anyone down nor will I. We're getting married on the 12th of this month. I feel if those that did not respond wanted to share our day with us we would have heard from them. Family or not, I did not reach out.

I'm doing both RSVP cards and online option. I have a healthy mix of tech savvy guest that would love the convenience of RSVP on the website and some old fashion guest that would rather mail back a card ( some that are not tech savvy at all. So I would go over the guest list and for the ones you know wouldn't mind going online just add website option to invites but definitely get a few actual RSVP cards for your more old fashion guest.

May I ask if you provided stamps for the rsvp cards? Only curious because that would definitely be a waste on those who chose to respond online.

You want to have a combination of both for guests who aren't tech savvy.

I requested that guests RVSP one of three ways: online at our wedding website, via email or via phone. I didn't print RSVP cards. I figure those that aren't tech savvy (I can think of 1-2 of my 218 guests) can use a phone or email. It saved me a substantial sum of $ which I'll spend on a late night snack!

I'm only providing stamps to the guest that I know for a fact wouldn't RSVP online. Like my Grandma and older guest

I'm going old school, and doing just RSVP cards only. No online RSVPs, or email/texting. It'll help me feel better about checking RSVPs one way only, rather than checking the mail, my phone, AND my laptop every day...it'll hell me keep my sanity, for sure!
We're paying for stamps both ways, too.

I’m making my own insert saying rsvp by aug.... at www.... and have the website on the invite... cost me $2 at office max for the card stock to make my own insert... my MOm was afraid ppl wouldn’t know to go online even tho the invite says please rsvp at .... it’s a newer thing now so an extra reminder doesn’t hurt!

We did rsvp cards with envelopes and stamps as well as an online option. Overwhelmingly more people of all age groups have sent back the card in the stamped envelope we provided. I found that very interesting in this tech savvy time.

I'm doing tri fold invites for the RSVP card simply detaches and is mailed as a postcard. Personally as a guest I don't know how I would feel about having to go on an email my RSVP. Especially for older guests who may not completely understand what you're trying to accomplish with the email address. They may just show up.
