RSVP card confusion

Lacy, on May 17, 2009 at 2:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I have noticed that on RSVP cards there is an M located to the left of a long line. What is the M for? And what is the line beside the M for? I know this sounds dumb but I've never been to a wedding that had RSVP cards, but I'm doing them and I want to make sure I know what I'm doing.

The M would be for Mr and Mrs or Ms or Miss.... what ever the title is and the line is for the rest of the name. Hope this helps!

That makes sense. Do I finish writing out the Mr or Mrs? or does the M stand alone?

In my experiance the guest will fill it out. But, you can if you would like to write the guests name. That may prevent some of the nightmare stories we read about on this board!!!

You can change the M_____________ to Name__________. I would suggest letting guest write in name.

On our RSVP cards where the (M__________) was I filled it in b/c that way there is no confusion on who the invite is for and more people don't get invited. It looked like this:

    (M)r. & Mrs Smith

    (2) seats have been reserved in your honor

The honour of your reply is requested by (date)

Unfortunately, if you read my post on RSVP's we are still having issues with getting them back on time and other people getting invited.

Hope that cleared things up a bit. Smiley smile

At first I didn't know what the M was for either- but pretty much all of our guest filled it out right.

one funny story about the M is from my cousin. His name is Michael and he used the M for the start of his name. It was so funny to see it when it came back in the mail.
