Role for 9 Year Old Girl In Wedding

Victoria and Ralph, on January 8, 2014 at 12:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I have a close family friend who we have both agreed NEEDS to be in our wedding. The only catch is that she is just 9 years old. (She'll be 10 years old for our wedding.) We think she is too old to be a flower girl though.

Are there any other possible things she can do to be a part of the big day?

    Junior bridesmaid?

You could ask her to do a reading (although that depends on her comfort level)

She could walk the FG & RB down the aisle

My nieces will be 7 and 8 at the time of my wedding. They are REALLY excited to have the flower girl title. Besides, age is just a number. Not only that, they are more responsible. It's not like having a toddler in the wedding that will pick their nose on the way down, or cry.

Her six year old sister is going to be our flower girl, and I would have her walk down the aisle with her, but she is at the age/mindset where she is starting to think she is too old for things. Maybe a reading or junior bridesmaid! Thanks for the ideas!

My FH's nieces are 9 and 11 I believe. They're going to be junior bridesmaids.

I'm having my 10 year old nephew be our guest book 'manager' and an usher. As long as you give them any task, they will feel special.

My daughter will be just short of her 10th birthday when I get married, and she's super excited to be my flower girl. However, if you have another flower girl and this child doesn't want that title, I agree w/PP that junior bridesmaid might be a better fit for her.

It has been decided that my (then) 10.5 year old grandson will be manning our lemonade and bird seed cones tables, as guests are coming in. =)

My sister will be eight years old during my wedding. I think she's slightly too old to be a flower girl. But even then, she's my sister and I want her to be something more "important." She went to the venue when the contract was signed and she was soo excited, telling my mom that she wanted to be a flower girl so badly and to wear a big dress. I kind of want to create like a "mini bride" role for her or even just pick her to be my maid of honor lol. I won't be assigning roles or tasks to my bridesmaids really, so I won't need anything from her/them.

Junior bridesmaid. My daughters will be 14, 12 and 12 the day of our wedding and they are my only bridesmaids. His sons and one close friend (to even it out) are his groomsmen.

Junior Bridesmaid. You'll probably have to dress her in a different dress but that works.
