Rock/Trash the dress photo shoot

Now Mrs.S, on September 16, 2013 at 11:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

For brides that did these, how long after the wedding did you take them? We are thinking of doing them next summer for our 1 year anniversary.

Are you glad you did it or do you regret not keeping the dress in good condition? There is a voice in the back of my head that cannot imagine doing this to a $1000 gown.

I can't even begin to understand our take in the trashing the dress.. Like you said trashing a $1,000 or more will probably hurt me physically... I get a little nauseas thinking about it! I want to do an anniversary photo shoot... I'll wear my gown he will rent the tuxagain :-)

I didn't spend $1700 on a gown to do a trash the dress session. That's just nuts.

I am thinking more of the "rock the dress" theme so that I can get it cleaned and keep it in the closet.

We want to take photos with our dog with me in my dress and him dressed up.

I like your idea of "rocking the dress" with your dogs and hubby! That's super cute. I would never trash my dress, though. Taking pictures with fur babies is one thing, destroying a dress that you spent a lot of money on is a whole other thing!

I just did a Rock the Dress last week and my wedding was in May. I couldn't stand to trash it but I wanted a chance to wear it again and get some different photos before I send it to be preserved. I had a lot of fun and definitely recommend it!

I've never heard of Rock the Dress before... Is it just wearing your dress out again?

I am doing both! I am taking my dress with me on our honeymoon and will get into the ocean a little, I won't be fully drenched but we'll probably run around and splash each other. They charge $120 for the photo session at the resort we are staying at. Next year we are going to Los Cabos for our one year anniversary and I am planning on wearing the dress again to take some pictures!

I spent $450 for this exact reason, if my dress cost thousands of dollars I think I'd feel differently about getting it wet/dirty.

This subject makes me shutter! Rock the dress would be really fun, but I do not see the appeal in trashing a dress that you spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on and countless hours picking out, getting it altered, etc. I didn't spend over $2k on my dress to sit in a stream and knowingly ruin it.

See I guess I feel a bit different, you spent tons of money on a dress that you will wear once, spend more money to preserve then have it sit in a box. At least when you rock or trash the dress you are getting a chance to wear it again and that would make me feel better about spending all of that money.

I'm definitely thinking of a rock the dress session. I love the idea of going somewhere different/not fancy and wearing our fancy get-up

You can still do a "trash the dress", with out actually trashing it. There are different ones (beach, mud). That's what professional cleaners are for. The original trash the dress photoshoot I wanted to do involved neon paint, don't think that's going to happen. At the end I probably spent $1,000 total on my dress!

@Jennifer-pretty much, I compare it to doing an engagement shoot but after the wedding and in your dress!

My SIL and bro did more of a "rock the dress" shoot, although she says it was a trash the dress shoot. They never got some of their wedding photos back (they had a friend do photography and that was a big mistake) so they decided to do a second shoot on the beack about 6 months after their wedding and used the pictures on their christmas cards.

I might do a Rock the Dress but afterwards I'm getting it cleaned and donating it. Theres a place near me that takes used wedding dresses and sells them to those who cant afford a lot for their gowns. No point in having it in a box in my closet and lets be real, my future daughter (if i have one) is not going to want to wear it haha
