Robes or Shirts?

Tiffany, on March 31, 2020 at 8:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 41

I've been online all day today and yesterday looking for personalized and miscellaneous gifts for my bridesmaids (6 of them, it's fiance's fault for having too many groomsmen! lol), jr bridesmaid and flower girl and I have everything but there's one thing missing and I cannot decide. I went over my budget on everything but I just can't help myself when it comes to gifts.

I cant decide if I want to get personalized robes or tshirts/tank tops to finish it off. I can't seem to find anything I like that won't make me feel guilty for spending too much. What does everyone think? Robes too cliche? Also, if you have links please share! I feel like I've been to every website! I've looked all over Etsy and it's frustrating me so unless it's a helpful link directly to a shop please don't recommend it!

Everyone does the robes because it’s easy to get on and off and obviously looks cute. Davids bridal typically has deals and I believe some are on clearance now. They are satin and wrinkle easy so get them steamed for free at your nearest davids bridal the week of the wedding. If you do shirts, you can probably just buy the shirts and have someone with a circuit do an iron on design for cheap. If you do a shirt, it’s best to do a button up shirt so it’s easy to take off and doesn’t mess up hair and make up.

I just thought of that after I clicked post. I was on David's Bridal and trying to find robes there cause everything is on sale additional 30% off and I found one I like but they don't have sizes I need. Every time I find something I like they're out of sizes or colors. Very frustrating!

Shoot! I believe the knot website also has some robes but I think they’re more expensive. You can possibly even check Poshmark for new robes that people may have bought and didn’t use

Tshirts. Robes are so awkward and can be revealing and uncomfortable. Not to mention if you have any bridesmaids that are plus size or tall, they never fit properly.

I was afraid of that. But like Mikayla mentioned, tshirts are hard to get off when you're trying to avoid messing up hair and makeup so now I'm really conflicted.

In addition to this comment Tiffany, many people wear leggings/shorts and a tank top under the robes so they can still look great for pictures!

Are you leaving toward a robe or t-shirt? I’m doing pajamas that I’ll give them at the rehearsal dinner! Target has cute sets for $20. I have 6 bridesmaids myself and I had a hard time finding everyone’s size so the target pajamas were my best option. They can also wear them again after the wedding!

Leaning more towards robes cause I think they look the cutest in pictures. My problem with PJs is that I know majority of them don't wear PJs on a regular day so I don't want to make them uncomfortable. I wouldn't mind buying robes and getting iron on names and stuff like that but even that is expensive.

Well, I have a machine like a circuit and I can cut out names for a reasonable price for you and mail them if that’s what you choose! Smiley smile let me know!

I feel like robes would be really cute but then I think they’d wear the T-shirt more

Everyone’s body type is different. Not every woman will feel comfortable in something as simple as a tank and shorts. Robes are more forgiving and if you have a plus size in your group, I know they have in that size too.

I’m thinking about doing leggings and hoodies with a zipper in the front for easy put on put off. I am personalizing the hoodies... at first I did have the robes in mind but didn’t find any I liked lol

I ordered PJ sets for my girls. They are also button down tops so they won’t have to worry about taking it off and messing up their hair. I don’t like the robes because everyone will still wear something under it and a lot of times it’s pants or a shirt that doesn’t match or it just looks weird like why are you wearing a robe if you have clothes on underneath?

I did PJ sets for my bridesmaids as well! They were a soft satin material and the tops were button down so nobody had to worry about messing up hair or makeup. I wanted them to be monogrammed with their initials but I also wanted to save some money... so I bought the matching PJ sets at Target, then bought the iron-on monograms from an Etsy seller, and simply did the ironing part myself. I ended up spending half of what I would have, had I purchased them already monogrammed from a site like the Knot.

I ordered shirts from this etsy shop. I wear mine all the time they are so soft, lightweight and good quality. I highly recommend them!

They also have their shirts on sale now for like $12 a shirt.
