I have had a hard time finding engagement rings that I like... I am constantly trying to look at rings online or on people's hands to assess what I would want, yet like very few. I think I might like the knife edge band but not sure.... would be curious to see your engagement rings and want to take a poll to see who got to pick out their own.... versus total surprise. If you were totally surprised.... did you like your ring?

I knew exactly what I wanted. We went and looked twice and thought we would go one final time but turns out he already had the ring at that point. I originally wanted a 6 prong tiffany setting solitaire but ended up with a 4 prong with almost a floating setting. I'm not sure what it's technically called but it is so unique, for a solitaire, and he had it designed. I LOVE mine!! He did SO good.

It seems like everyone loved their surprised rings. For those of you who didn't like what your fiancé picked out, how did you handle that.

FH surprised me with mine. He knew I loved the 3-stone look so that's what he went with.

Today I actually found my wedding band!! I'm so happy I finally found one I loved and looks good with my engagement ring. Now just have to get both rings resized. Smiley smile

Please excuse my horrible cuticles. Lol.

My ring was 100% a surprise and picked out by Andre. Honestly, it isn't what I would have thought of when I envisioned my engagement ring but I love it. I think he knows my style and tastes and did end up picking something that is very "me". In the end, he probably did a better job picking than I would have.

FH actually spoke with my mom for a few weeks about getting me a promise ring, and after some thought they both agreed that if he was going to get me a ring he might as well get an engagement ring! He sent her pictures of the ones he looked at and asked if I'd like them, etc. He proposed with a very lovely ring, but it just wasn't me. It was a 3 stone ring but it sat VERY high, and it was hitting everything. After a few weeks, we just decided to look somewhere else. We ended up at ShaneCo and designed it together!

I had one request. I wanted an aquamarine, and not a diamond. That being said, FH proposed to me with a plain sterling silver band so that he could surprise me and I could still pick out the ring I wanted. Truth be known I would have loved anything he bought me, but I DO really love my ring. Pardon the fat fingers. I must have been bloated that day...LOL!!

We had looked at rings a year or so before he proposed. He knew I liked a solitaire and wanted white gold. He picked out the ring all on his own and completely surprised me. I love my ring!

FH told me that he wanted to be engaged by the end of 2013, and so we started looking at rings at the beginning of 2013. We went to so many different stores, I found two that I really loved and one place we went made custom rings. I told him that I liked the certain elements from one and other elements of the other. He was also very particular in what he thought looked good. In the end he custom designed it with the things I liked from each ring. It was still a surprise since I wasn't part of the designing part, but I was pretty sure that's what he was going to do. I absolutely love my ring, it has maile leaves on the side (which are typically used in leis for weddings) and he had it engraved on the inside to say Nau Ko'u Aloha (meaning My love is yours). It really fits us!

Here's mine! I love it! No band to show yet, it's being sized.

We picked it out together. I wanted something simple & different. He loved this stone & so did I!

We started looking at rings - omg, it was pretty much exactly a year ago!!! Right around this time last year, I started receiving screenshots of rings so he could get an idea of what I liked. I went to a store and tried some on, which really helped narrow down what I liked and didn't like. We went together in October and looked at some but didn't buy anything. He wanted to live together before getting engaged and I was in the process of relocating back to the metro area to move in together.

We went looking again in February and found this ring. It was similar to what I found in October, but this had vintage-style detailing. We picked out the center stone together (at Shane Co. - FH only wanted to buy from there). We looked between a Kentucky blue, ice blue, and fire Sapphire and ended up with the ice blue. It fit the vintage feel of the ring best, but they all looked good.

We had the 6 prong head changed to a 4 prong. My stone is .96 - some days I wish it was bigger, other days I Love it just how it is.

He got the ring and then waited about a week and a half to ask.

    Rings! 1
This was my original engagement ring which I wanted something unique. My FH was gifted his moms diamond and when my mom passed away, I incorporated her diamond ring that had two diamonds side by side to make a family ring, which is three stones. Which is below! I love both of them!! Rings! 2

Picked mine out on Etsy years and years ago, made sure a bunch of friends had the link, and one of them (my MOH) eventually just dropped the link in DH's DMs, and said, "GO DO IT C'MON".

Ironically, it did not get to him in time for his planned proposal, so he borrowed a ring from some dear friends and used that until my ring came in. (Honestly, I considered that good luck - that couple had just had a baby, so their ring felt like it had good vibes.)

Anyway, I personally hate diamonds, and wanted something with color, so my ring is a lab-grown sapphire, in purple.

    Rings! 3
