Getting married in 3 weeks. I let my friend try my ring on again (she has done before, and yes I know that I my fault so please don't scold about that). She had been drinking so I think her fingers were swollen and when she couldn't get it off she just kept trying hard and harder to get it off. I told her to stop because she was making it worse but she was drunk and wouldn't listen. Her finger is so traumatized now that it is so swollen that it will take DAYS for it to come down enough to get it off. I think she wants to cut it off and I am so devastated but how can I tell someone no about a choice that involves her body? She is scared that the circulation is getting cut off. It looks fine to me, just tight. I'm so sad and scared and angry at myself. FH is in Vegas for bachelor party so no one else to cry to. Anyone have to have their ring cut off? Could you tell after it was soldered back? I'm so sad and stressed and I just don't want to have one more thing to worry about.

If her finger starts turning white (without her other fingers pressing on it) or purple, go to the doctor immediately. Otherwise, just give it time. Since it still won't come off, I'm going to assume she keeps pulling on it. Tell her that if she leaves it alone, it will come loose in a day or two.

She needs to not try to take it off AT ALL for atleast a day or two... she's irritated her finger by constantly trying to take it off which has cause inflamation... (trying on tight rings at jewelers has done this to me)

Then soak her hand in ice water... (your fingers get smaller when their cold. heat will only make the finger bigger) - hence why your ring spins more in the winter when you're cold.

    Then lotionize and try again.

If it does need to be cut off... depending on the detail of the ring you shouldn't be able to tell at all after a jeweler soders it back together.

Go to a jeweler to get the ring cut off. They know where and how to cut it to ensure the best repair. I had to have my wedding rings cut off when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still had 6 weeks to go and the rings where tight already. I didn't want to wait until they got too tight. But wouldn't you know, about a week after I got the rings cut off, she decided not to wait and came early herself.

Update*** ring was removed successfully two days later using "the string method". A friend of mine told me her mother (an ER nurse) suggested this method. You basically just take some string or floss and slowly wind it down the length of your finger and drain the blood and swelling out. Then you use a lubricant or windex (we used windex) to slip it off. It worked successfully and my ring has remained on my finger since then. Smiley smile thanks for all of the advice ladies!
