Ring size (too big , now too small)

Niloofar, on September 7, 2017 at 11:11 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I got my ring from a jeweler in NY. I live in CA. The jeweler had a free resize offer, so we sent it back to her to be resized after I went to a random jeweler in CA to get my finger sized. (He recommended a 3.75 and I went with it.) So I resized from a 6 to 3.75. Now it feels too tight to take off, like uncomfortable painful tight. So I want to get it resized to a 4. It's a simple yellow gold band. If anyone has experience with this, do you think I should be ok with getting it resized at a jeweler in CA? I don't want to send it back to NY and wait again!

I always recommend local jewelers. You can sit and watch them resize your ring, so you know for sure they aren't switching any diamonds out for CZ or the like, and you get it done exactly the size you want because you can sit there and try it on as they do it. You should have no problem getting it resized, although it may be difficult to size it back up now that you've gone down.

I had to resize mine but i was able to bring it back to the jeweler we got it from. I don't see why you couldn't resize it in CA. The best thing you can do is call some jeweler where you live and ask what they can do for you.

I would go to someone nearby rather than having to ship it out. Always go with a local jeweler!

Okay thanks you guys. It's a custom made ring. Just a little stone, no diamond. I felt more comfortable sending it back to NY to the jeweler who made it, especially because the jeweler here in CA didn't sound too confident in thinking he could size it down well, but maybe sizing it up 1/2 a size won't be too bad.

I have to send it back to the jeweler that made my ring (also in NY) otherwise it voids the warranty. I would just make sure the isn’t the case for you before sizing locally.
