Ring sent for resizing

Silverlava, on February 7, 2017 at 1:53 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

I dropped my ring off for resizing today--unfortunately with the cold weather and my weight loss, it is a full size, almost a size and a half, too big. Now, even more unfortunately, I won't be getting it back until after I get back from a work trip, so my hand feels "naked" until March. Did anyone have their ring resized? I'm a teensy bit sad I won't have it for the only Valentines day we have as an engaged couple.

I had to send mine off for 3 weeks for resizing and to have a broken prong replaced, and almost didn't have it back in time for our e-pics. I was highly upset.

For "naked finger" sad feels buy a pretty sterling-silver/crystal band from somewhere like Nordstrom! I just did for the honeymoon cause I didn't want to wear the engagement ring. It was 48 bucks.

I had mine resized twice. The first time was the week after I got it because FH got it two sizes too big. I had it resized again a couple months later because it felt too tight (they had it resized a half size too small on accident the first time around). So I can definitely understand how you feel. Right now it's a little loose, but I can deal with it until my wedding band is added.

I got a cheap one on Amazon because I was considering resizing and was worried about feeling like that too- maybe that would help?

I had mine resisted twice. My FH bought my engagement ring too small. Then when we bought my wedding bands we had to have it resized then too. I ended up putting in an old ring I had just so I didn't feel too naked without it. It took 9 days to get them resized.

I had to get my ring resized twice. The first time was a day after he proposed and I took it down one size and than a few months later because it was still feeling too big. Both times I was ringless for about a week. However for my wedding band we had it resized within like 3 hours .

I had mine sized down almost immediately after he proposed - it would have slipped off my finger without me noticing otherwise. Our jeweler has someone come to the shop for sizing a few times a week, so I only had to wait a few days. When we bought our wedding bands, we made sure to order them in the size we both needed, so they never had to go back.

I dont know if its too late to mention it, but dont forget your fingers will swell up again once it gets hot. I only say this because you mentioned the cold weather as part of why you are getting it sized.

I've been without my ring for 4 weeks now going on 6 weeks!! Sent off to resize from a 7 to 5.75 (that took three weeks) got it back damaged with scratches all over it so I told them to fix my ring (that took a week) went to pick up again bc they said it was ready & nothing had changed so they are sending it to a different location (which takes Two weeks). All in totally six weeks!! They say it's supposed to be back on February 13th. If I don't have it for Valentines Day (same as you only valentine as an engaged couple) I'm gonna be P***ed!!! I got engaged 12/22/16 & I've been without my ring longer than I actually got to enjoy it. My FH is furious!

I feel the same way! I go to college 2 hours from home and was home last weekend and will be again on Sunday so I brought it in and won't have it at all this week. I definitely feel "naked" without it. I also get a bit sad when I look down and it isn't there

I got mine resized a few days after FH proposed. He bought it a size and a half too big. It took them 2 weeks, but they were able to overnight it back to me! I missed it then but I'd only had it for a few days. I would go crazy now if I had to send it away for so long.

It will actually only take 2 weeks to resize, but it will be back the day i leave for Belgium for a week and a half. Thus, I will be without my ring for the rest of the month.

I might see if I like any simple jewelry--FH and I absolutely loved the opal rings we saw, but agreed the stone was too soft to be an engagement ring.

@Caitlin: My ring was bought back in 1978, so the shop it was purchased from is long closed (the owners retired). We took it to a local jeweler, who sends anything being sized or repaired to a city about 2 hours south of here. Its a pain, but you can't beat his prices, and the quality of work is excellent.

I had to get a lot of prongs replaced on mine (it's antique.) It's been a week and it still won't be ready until at least this Friday. :-( I really miss it. I've been wearing a ring that my parents gave me for my 16th birthday in its place, but it's definitely not the same.

Just don't let them resize it too small or it'll be tight in the summer!!

We had to size mine up a full size because I had gained enough weight to need it (I had told FH what my ring size was...Except hadn't worn a ring since I had gained weight so it was too small).

My ring is now pretty loose towards the end of the day, but I refuse to get it resized until I go through a full summer to make sure it's actually big and not just because of the cold...If it fits in the summer I'll get a cheap guard for it during the winter.

I had mine resized specifically in order to have it back for our first engaged Valentine's Day. Engaged on Christmas Day, couldn't part with it until 1/23 and just got it back this past Friday 2/3. Longest almost 2 weeks ever! Just know that you're doing it for great reason, you don't wanna lose it! Even if it is insured I'm sure that would be so heartbreaking! And congrats on the weight loss!!!
