Ring Resize help please!

CC, on June 4, 2023 at 1:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 3
My engagement ring is from the US and I was measured last summer at a 5 but it’s felt big and the diamond swivelled around. I was measured in London a 4.5 so just had it resized. It’s now warmer here in London and my fingers have swollen a bit and it’s harder to take off. I’m getting married in Mexico so am worried about it getting stuck!

Any advice / tips please? I relocate from London in a couple days so only have tomo to sort if needed!

I have the problem of swelling also. My fingers will literally swell almost an entire size in the hot summer months. I basically had to decide whether I wanted the ring a little too big most of the year and have to wear a sizer, or get it the correct size for most of the year, and get a second band to wear during the summer months. I chose to just get the second band. And I am so glad I did! Not only do I have a beautiful second ring (yay!), but it’s also comfortable. It is definitely going to be warm and humid in Mexico, so you may want to contemplate getting a second band to wear during the summer months, and use it during your ceremony. Or, you could even just get a fake ring to take with you to Mexico. Not only would it solve the size issue, but it would also be safer to travel with a non-precious stone (most people I know actually wear fake rings, or no jewelry at all, when they go to Mexico for that reason). If you don’t want to do either of those options, the only thing I could suggest would be to have some ice on hand, and ice your ring finger right before walking down the aisle, and hope it relieves the swelling enough to get your ring on.

Eat as little salt as possible to reduce swelling. You can wear a compression sleeve on you arm and even compression gloves up until the time of the wedding. Caffeine is a mild diuretic and may help. Keep hands elevated if possible before walking down the aisle. Best of luck to you

It sounds like a size 4.75 would be a good idea. I'd have them size up a tiny bit. I also have my wedding band a little bit bigger so the tighter e-ring keeps it in place but I can comfortably wear it alone if my fingers are swollen.

(I have tiny fingers, size 3.75 for e-ring and 4 for wedding band)
