All my life I've believed you wear your wedding rings a certain way. W-Band closest to you (or as the saying I've heard goes closest to your heart) & E-Ring in front of it. All my life I've believed you wear your wedding rings a certain way. W-Band closest to you (or as the saying I've heard goes closest to your heart) & E-Ring in front of it. Today I was talking to a coworker who is also getting married & she said no you wear it the other way with the E-Ring closest to you & W-Band in front bc the W-Band seals the promise that was made with the E-Ring. Has anyone else ever heard of this? How are you wearing your rings?

    I've always seen the wedding band at the bottom and closest to you traditionally, I've never heard of it the other way

    It's a personal preference. I prefer the second one.

    I'm my case, I think my ring looks upside down if I don't wear it like this.

    But I just prefer the "sealing the promise" part anyway

    Thanks everyone. Seeing as how I haven't gotten my W-Band yet I'll probably have to see what way matches best with my E-Ring. Though after thinking about it more the "seal the promise" sounds really sweet, just I had never heard it before. Smiley smile

    @GoingBALDwin & @Windowschick yall rings are gorgeous. <3

    The tradition as I heard it was to place your e-ring on your right hand before the ceremony and after you receive your w-band you move your e-ring back to your left hand. I agree with most I don't think its a rule so much as a preference nowdays, and I've seen it both ways.

    I've always heard wedding band closest to your heart. BUT now that I'm marrying into a russian orthodox family I've learned their tradition is to wear the wedding band on the right hand because of the whole "right hand of God" thing. My FMIL wears her engagement ring on the left and wedding band on the right.

    I have always seen wedding band first (closest to you) then engagement ring. But there is no real rules so do what feels comfortable. I am doing wedding band closest to me.

    I have heard closest to your heart but am leaning towards the other way mostly because if a ring falls off somehow, I want it to be my cheap wedding band and not my expensive e-ring (yes I'm paranoid...)

    I will be wearing my engagement ring and then wedding band. I know people who do both, it's up to you.

    I've heard about it the first way you described but I really like your co-worker's reasoning for the other way around

    I'm planning to get 2 wedding bands to frame my engagement ring. I like the symmetry of it. You see many sets for this, these days.

    The traditional manner seems uncomfortable. Doesn't make sense to me to wear the big baubly thing on the outside. We are, however, forgoing bands entirely. I don't wear jewelery except large obnoxious earrings and he is a mechanic. No need for rings.

    For me I have three bands. I got an engagement ring and one band and I'll get the other when we say "I Do" my grandma told me I was wearing them wrong and everything kept asking me was I married because of how they were positioned. So coming from my grandma your wedding band is supposed to be closest to your heart. So you're right!

    It goes e-ring wedding band. For a while I wore mine backwards because I thought my rings looked better that way, but then I switched them and have kept them the right way.

    @EveryoneWhoCommented It's crazy how different things change over the years lol. I think both are a 50% 50% on who wears it which way. I don't think either way is right or wrong, totally personal preference or bc it looks better. But I'm also a big sucker for tradition and who knows I haven't gotten my W-Band yet so it could go either way for me. lol

    **sorry so long to respond been at work all day**
