Ring finger pain?

BeachDreams, on September 12, 2016 at 8:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

So to start, I will be talking to my doctor about this during my annual . But, I unfortunately won't have insurance until October. Has anyone else experienced pain in their ring finger. I am pretty sure my ring is not too tight, as I can spin it around easily and take it on and off without issue. When I first got engaged, I had pretty infrequent pain (dull shooting) which would go away if I took my ring off for a few minutes. However, lately, the frequency has increased and I have to take my ring off for longer periods of time. Anyone else experience this?

Do you have allergies? You may be allergic to the metal or the solution it is sipped in to keep it shiny

I initially considered that. But when it hurts, I usually switch it to my thumb (another reason I know its not too tight lol) and it never hurts on that finger. ETA: Although, I realize that I never wear it on my thumb as much as I do my ring finger. So, I guess allergies are still a possibility.

Ask you dr if they can test you for allergies! If you are allergic there are things you can coat the ring in so that you can still wear it! Smiley smile

It is the only piece of jewelry that I have ever worn regularly. Thanks for the tip meg0029!

I would wear it on your thumb for a day or two to see if that starts to hurt. But definitely ask your doctor for an allergy test

It happened to me before but I chalked it up to how I sleep.

My left arm and fingers just go numb half way through the day.

This happened to me and it turned out I was allergic to white gold. Eventually my finger started to swell, and eventually it swelled so much I had to have the ring cut off! That took about two years to happen, but it started with a dull throbbing pain in my finger.

Omg! So sorry that happened to you, Charity. But thank you for sharing your experience! From the feedback so far, I will definitely have my doctor do an allergy test.

Please do ask your physician! It could be a few things not related to your ring.

@Rashane... Please get this checked out ASAP! What you are describing is not normal.

I have the same pain, but I have a yellow gold ring. Are yellow gold allergies just as common as white gold? What do you do to stop the pain? I don’t want to buy a new band.

Sounds like what I went through only to find out that I have an allergy to metal. I can wear earrings and it isn’t that bad. ( I mean I need to take them off at night and my ears hurt) but rings and bracelets, anklets I cannot do. I get pain and swell up.
