Ring Bearer Gift Ideas?

Casey, on October 10, 2018 at 1:14 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 14

My nephew will be 6 by the time our wedding hits and will be our ring bearer, and I'm stumped for gift ideas. Everything for a kid that age in the "ring bearer gift" section seems to revolve around asking the kid to be the ring bearer or is a teddy bear. This kid doesn't care much for stuffed animals, and I hesitate to buy toys anyway (my FSIL's house kinda looks like Toys'R'Us threw up in it before it went bankrupt). He's super into planets at this exact moment, but I'm not sure that that interest will be as intensive come May of next year.

What did y'all buy as gifts for your ring bearers? Any and all guidance is welcome! And thanks in advance!

You could give him a brief case and a tshirt that says ring security on it that is different from the traditional teddy bear. Or you could make a play on Saturn's Rings and go with a planet theme if you wanted to do that too....kids are so hard to predict and their interests change on a dime! Good luck!

Maybe if you could find a puzzle or book for a 6 year old about planets, hopefully he won’t grow out of it that fast. My ring bearer was my two-year-old nephew so I just got him books he liked and a toy school bus because he loves the Wheels on the Bus song. Or a solar system backpack for school next year.

Mine will be 3 when I get married. All the guys in my wedding are getting super hero socks to wear for the wedding... Fiancé is a huge Spiderman and Marveo a comic fan...anyway my ring bearer is name Leo, so he will be getting Leonardo Ninja Turtle socks and a action figure. Along with a harmonica with his name engraved on it . My cousin just had a wedding and our cousin was the ring bearer. He got a wooden harmonica with his name engraved on it. He's 7 and he loved it!

My ring bearer is 5 and I was in the same boat. Didn’t want to get him a teddy bear and didn’t want to get him a briefcase or anything super cheesy. I ended up finding a guy on Etsy that makes crayons to spell their name. He is at the age where doodling is fun so I thought it was cool. We got him this and a tumbler with his name and ring bearer on it so that he has that to drink out of at dinner.

Honestly, I’m giving mine the type of gift I would give him for his birthday. im giving him a gift card to his favorite store, so he can have a blast shopping and picking out his own item! I like the idea of cool super hero socks or something along those lines. And I didn’t get my gift for the kids until now (10 days before the wedding)

like you said, kids change what they want every 10 seconds, and they grow like weeds.

I would wait until closer to the day to see what he’s into then!

I agree with Miranda: I think you should wait before getting him a gift! I like the idea of a planet puzzle or something else having to do with his interests, but they change so quickly! I would approach the task like you're getting him a birthday present when the time comes. Smiley smile

Our ring bearers were 6 and 8. They are both into Harry Potter and Star Wars. I ordered them each a customized wand on Etsy along with a stand that said "the wand chooses the wizard" I also got them a Star Wars lego set.

I noticed bears everywhere too when I was looking for a gift for my nephew! He was 8 when we got married and we ended up getting him a ring security badge engraved with his name from Things Remembered: https://www.thingsremembered.com/ring-security-badge/product/351893 He hung out with the guys before the wedding and my husband gave it to him then. He wore it when he walked down the aisle and loved it. It made him feel really important and special. We also got him a piggy bank because we knew he needed/wanted one and we got married in a restaurant that used to be an old savings bank, so it kind of fit the theme.

Our ringer bearer was also our nephew and 6 at the time. We didn't buy him a typical ring bearer gift but just asked his parents what all he was in to at that time which was dinosaurs, Jurassic park stuff, mind craft and legos just to name a few. So we got him a small Jurassic park lego set and some other small things like a thing of slime and some snacks.

FH is supposed to be taking care of this but I have a feeling it may fall to me. I've got my eye on this remote control tank kind of thing. If that's not available, something along those lines. Shop like it's his birthday, get him something that a 6 year old boy will really want. Hint: nothing that is personalized to your wedding (a shirt or mug with your date, a bear with a fake ring, etc) fits that category.

I would definitely get him something that interests him and he can play with. Kids at that age are not into things that sit on a shelf- and he may not have any place in his room to place it. I would wait until closer to your wedding and look for something creative in line with his interest on etsy. Good Luck and I am sure you will find something suitable!

You can get just about anything personalized online and if you find something you think he would genuinely like I would get him that. For our ring bearer I got him a bag that says "I'm in charge of the rings and a cup with a lid that says ring security from Oriental Trading. I also bought him his tux as his Christmas present since he's my FH's nephew. Plus I figured that would be a nice way to help out my FSIL who is also one of my BMs. Oriental Trading, Amazon, TheKnotShop and Etsy all have lots of options for cute ring bearer gifts.
