Hello there! My dad still has my grandmother's wedding dress from the 1960s, and he told me that I can have it to wear at my wedding. It is an incredibly sweet gesture but the dress is very outdated and doesn't fit quite right. I tried it on but it would definitely need some alterations and modernization. Does any one know of a place that can help me do this? Preferably somewhere in the Bay Area. Thanks!

I think it's gorgeous, and I would wear it as-is myself, except for size alterations. Search for bridal "restyling" if you really want to change it, though. Good luck!

I'm just in awe over the fact your grandma got married in the 60's!! My grandparents all got married in the 40's/early 50's

I would lose the sleeves and have the skirt changes to mermaid or something more fitted to you. I actually like the lace on the back.

Your Grandma's dress is amazing! Ultimately, wear what makes you feel fantastic. You definitely alter the neckline and all that to make it a bit more modern. It's so romantic.

If they are not able to alter it they way you'd like, you could always take some fabric from it and make a belt for a different dress out of it

I'm not in your area, so I'm not much help in where you should go. But, I really love the skirt. I agree, i would make it a sweetheart neckline. And if you want cuff selves, maybe you can see if they can be made from the lace sleeves?
