Reserved Seats

Jae, on January 25, 2014 at 3:29 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

How are you all marking reserved seats for the ceremony? My ceremony is outside so I'm not quite sure what the best way to label reserved seats is. I didn't even think about it until it was a question on the paperwork my venue just sent me!

I'm making the reserved signs on powerpoint and hanging them on the end of the pew by a string. i would try to figure out a way to mark the row rather than the seats (just because it might be cheaper this way). remember to either be very specific on the sign about who it is for, or make sure the people know where they are supposed to sit in advance

This baffles me... how do adults of a certain age NOT know that the first few pews are reserved for family and bridal party?

do they really think that they deserve a better seat than great grandma?

That being said I think I am going to to mark the first three rows with a flower ball/spray. if they don't get it i don't know what to do... we will also have the ushers/groomsmen to help seat and they know the VIPS already

Shannon nailed it. Print them on something pretty, have your ushers or groomsmen tell people too, but most guests know that the first two rows are reserved for immediate family.

Thanks guys! We won't have ushers seating people, so I think I'll put little signs in the chairs that say reserved, like this. Looks like it's tied on, so if it's windy it won't blow away haha

I think I will be doing something similar maybe blocking of a few of the front rows with reserved for family of the bride and groom or something.i will have to think about it! Or maybe i will just save seats for my dad, mom, grandma and grandpa and his parents and grandparents. I am not sure. Also... If you want your flower girls/ring bearers to sit down during the ceremony make sure to save them a seat in front!

I think most adults should know not to sit in the first couple rows. It saddens me to think they don't.

Definitely remind your fam ahead of time of who's expected to sit in the reserved area. I went to a wedding last year where only the mother and father of the bride sat in the first two rows. Turned out that none of the other family members thought they were allowed to sit in the reserved area and it ended up being almost two whole rows of empty seats right up front.

And Jae, I love that idea! I think I'll use that instead of trying to hang something across the aisle..

@Kayla I bet some Etsy sellers make them. If not, it'd probably be pretty easy to make. You could type it up on word, print it on cardstock and cut them out, and then glue it to a slightly bigger piece of cardstock with the ribbon sandwiched inbetween. At least that's what I plan to do if I make them haha

Thanks for the heads up @Brandy! That would be terrible!

Thanks! I looked on Etsy and they do make them. I'm sure DIYing them is less expensive. Thanks for this thread!

We had ushers who were escorting people to their seats and they knew which people were allowed in the front two rows i.e. DH's sister and her fiance, then later my grandma, my mom, DH's parents, etc.
