Renting chairs or chair covers? Help!

Thanks you guys, I never even thought about just leaving the chairs, or even just adding a sash to them. I'll talk to FH about it and see does he want covers or not. Thanks for reminding me that nobody really cares about chairs or what I do with them lol. Great suggestions y'all!

How about just the navy or gold sash on the chairs?

My venue includes these plain chairs available in white or black. We can rent the chiavari chairs in white or brown for $5 each. I would need 275 for ceremony and 275 for reception- so that adds up to about $2,750 that I could totally save. I love the look of the chiavari chairs, but I mean....it's a chair. People will be happy to have a place to sit. I couldn't tell you what any of the chairs looked like at any weddings I have been to because I just haven't paid attention. If you want to save the money, go ahead and save the money. It wont make or break the wedding! A lot of people at my venue use the chairs as is without any cover and I still think it looks nice (bottom picture of the venue).

I freaking hate the chair covers. I screams 80's. They are so outdated and cheesy looking. Go with the black with no cover if you want to save money. I paid the extra for the chiavari. Kind of a stupid splurge but me and FMIL couldn't get past the ugly chairs.

Your chairs aren't actually bad. I wouldn't even notice them if I went to a wedding that had them. I like the idea of doing a sash! If you still don't want to use them, you could always do a more middle of the road option like wooden folding chairs. They're much cheaper than chiavari and still pretty.

How many chair covers are you renting? $455 seems like a lot. When I was pricing them out I found several online rental companies that had them for $1.50 and under a piece.

Nobody is going to have any idea what your chairs looked like. It would be light lighting hundreds of dollars on fire.

I say skip them. Those are the chairs my venue has. My mom was all about renting chiavari chairs until she found out the cost! I'm not a big fan of chair covers, period. I like the idea of the spandex ones, no issues of wrinkling or slipping off with those!

We used the spandex chair covers and I think they made a huge difference. They were never in the way, easy to put on and take off.....(we only did a couple, that was provided by venue). Covered the crazy pink chairs (the wedding colors were royal blue, white and bling...the pink did not go at all). As nice as the chivari chairs are they don't really add that much to the visuals.

FutureMrsDyson, in my planner at home I have the info for a few places that, I believe, rent them for $2.50 (chair cover and sash). I can post the info later when I get home if you want to look into it.

We are not renting chair covers or sashes. We thought that money would be better spent elsewhere.

If renting chairs is a must to you, I think these would look fine with a little navy blue accents to go with your table cloth.

I absolute HATE the look of chair covers with a PASSION. And unlike what many have said on here, I actually DO remember the chairs at weddings. It's the first thing I notice when I walk into any wedding, and chairs covered in those ugly covers that look like blankets immediately stand out to me like a sore thumb. And every time I look at pictures of any event and see chairs covered in the background, I cringe. Ugh words just can't describe how hideous I find chair covers lol
