Rent vs Buy

Since I'm 6 months out now, I figure it's time to start looking for FH's attire. He doesn't want to ask his GM to buy a new suit (understandable), but all of the rentals I've seen on Men's Warehouse, Jos.A Bank, etc. don't really fit the look I'm hoping for. I want the guys in navy suits, nothing...

I want the guys in navy suits, nothing too fancy. Did/Does anyone else have the guys in navy? Did you rent or have them buy?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Katie,

You may want to check out Jim's Formal Wear. The have a large selection and in the Navy. Also, if you have 6 or more groomsmen then I believe that the grooms tux is free. ( This is for rentals but I think you can also buy them).

    All best,

    Maybe try this place http://www.ownonly.com/wedding-suits

I didn't get to use it bc the guys already had their attire when I heard about it, but I've read good reviews.

Katie - that's my exact inspiration photo for FH and groomsmen too!! :-)

Men's Warehouse is supposed to be offering navy suit rentals by the fall, so it may be an option after all. We've also looked at Tuxedo Junction, if you have one nearby. A neighbor recommended a local tailor that made custom suits for ~$200, but they were cheaper because they are light-weight for summer. You'll probably want heavier wool for your date, but maybe check some small shops nearby.

I'm hoping for 3-piece suits so the guys still look polished with their jackets off, and have heard that renting will end up being almost as expensive as buying one they can keep.

I'm adding this to my watch list! Please keep me updated if you find anything, and I'll be sure to do the same!

Have you tried Macy's? They usually have great sales. I know my best friend's husband and his groomsmen bought $600 suits for wayyyyy cheaper. Here's an example of a blue suit similar to the color you posted for inspo: http://m.macys.com/shop/product/perry-ellis-blue-sharkskin-slim-fit-suit?ID=2238412&CategoryID=22610

We rented from a local company. This is close to what the GM are getting.
