Removing Vendor Categories

Leah, on January 12, 2019 at 12:04 AM Posted in Account Support 4 33
I was wondering if it is possible to remove vendor categories. Some of the work I'm DIYing or have friends in that field; I don't need to find/select a vendor... Is there a way to remove it from the screen or anyway to add your own vendor information at least? Thanks!

Hi Leah! There is currently no option to remove vendors categories from your vendor manager. This is great feedback and I am happy to share it with our Development Team!

I found that you can add your own vendor at least. This helps a little.

How do you add your own vendor? I am having my normal hair stylist do my hair and makeup but I can't find her salon when I try to type it in.

Hi Sarah! When you are searching for the vendor's business name and it does not populate, you should be able to click where it says 'Can't find your vendor? Click here' to add them manually

Hi! Is this fixed? I don’t need a caterer because it’s in-house at my venue. I also don’t need a videographer. This is super annoying.

Removing vendor categories is not currently a feature that we offer, but I have passed the feedback along to our Development Team for further consideration!

    Hey all,
While I can’t imagine we’re the only few perturbed by this, WW doesn’t seem to give a crap. I created an account on TheKnot, and they let you set your vendor categories right away, and even add them as you go. Probably going to switch to them. Just FYI!

I agree. Seeing that I have 3/21 vendors taken care of just makes me feel like I have more wedding stress and stuff to take care of even though I don't need half of them! You should be able to just select what vendors you need/have/want.

I use both apps, ww and the knot. I dislike that the types of vendors aren't customizable here. I don't need a band, ceremony music, caterer (part of the venue) and more. Plus I've gotten package deals, like the venue, where more than 1 vendor is covered under the contract and ww won't recognize a vendor under a category that they don't already have them under. Plus the knot includes dance studio as a category and ww doesn't. I'm a regular at a dance studio so I knew which one I'll use anyway, but I think it'll be helpful to others to have this as a category option so couples start looking into planning their dance more in advance.

I agree, being able to remove vendor options in vendor manager is ideal to keep track of whom we really still need to hire or not. Definitely should be added as a feature ASAP.

Has wedding wire implemented this yet? I hate having all these extra vendors that i don't need.

I agree, it has been so frustrating not being able to tell how many ACTUAL outstanding tasks I have! Please fix this for other future brides or they may very well find another wedding planning site to use instead!

I have honestly found it easier to use paper and pen for this section of WeddingWire. I posted this original comment nine months ago and clearly others have had the same question/felt the same way. I completely dropped using WW because it was not as customizable as I needed. There are so many types of weddings, so many different features for every wedding, and their website only fits the "cliche" wedding demand. We did our whole wedding with 120 guests for $7,000 and the only suggestions for vendors on here were no where in our budget. We were able to find MANY vendors in our price range that were not listed on here.

****x agree with this comment. I just started using wedding wire and appreciate that it's a relatively free tool that offers an array of reminders, recommendations, and management tools but my comments align with others like myself on here and that not all weddings are one size fit all.... for example we are not looking to hire a videographer but there's no option to remove. I'm going to add a fake videographer to remove it as a to-do item but from a broad picture perspective it's distracting

I just ran into this issue as well. When I look at my dashboard and see "12 out of 21 services hired" it makes me anxious. I have everything I need booked already, I really wish you could remove vendors you don't need. Not that this is a fix, but I've "hired" vendors named, "NOT NEEDED" and that checked them off the list, making me feel a tad better. Hope this becomes a feature soon!

Has this been fixed yet? It's incredibly frustrating and I'm considering moving do a different app.

Really disappointed that this still isn't an option! And happy that I am not the only one bothered by it!
